Billy Wood and Callum Davies - Fast bowling for Pembroke A

Pembroke B (80 all out) lost to  Pembroke A (81 for 0) by 6 wickets

Luke Butler - batted well for Pembroke APembroke A showed their B team how to do it as they shot them out for 80 and then chased down this modest total without losing a wicket in only 8.2 of their allotted 12 overs.

The B team clearly found the pace of Callum Davies and Billy Wood too hot to handle as Davies again confirmed the fact he is the fastest bowler in the competition with a 2 for 8 analysis from 2.2 overs, and Wood supported with his 2 for 25 alongside Sam Davies’ 1 for 23 spell.

Only B team skipper Ceri Davies ever looked settled as he struck two fours and two sixes in his 32 before he was man out, bowled neck and crop by the afore-mentioned Callum Davies.

Acting A team skipper Luke Butler and Billy Wood got them off to a flying reply, with neither looking in too much bother as Butler hit three fours in his 26 from 17 balls and Wood belted four boundaries in his 25 from the same number of deliveries faced.

Archie Hillier-Wood sensibly kept a low profile for his 7 not out and the Sam Davies rounded things off with two fours and a six in successive deliveries in his unbeaten 15 from only 5 balls as The A team made sure there was an easy early finish and second-place in the table as their reward!

Llanrhian (123 for 4) beat Pembroke Dock (102 all out) by 21 runs

Karl Davies - strong all-round Performance for LlanrhianIwan James and Daf Williams - excellent opening pair for LlanrhianLlanrhian maintained their top four place with a comfortable win over Pembroke Dock, who are now in the bottom two but had the performance of the fixture as veteran all-rounder Nick Daley huffed and puffed his way to an excellent 47 before he was last out.

Daf Williams and Llanrhian skipper Iwan James have earned their right to be considered very good indoor cricketers and showed their skills with an opening partnership of 50 in five overs as they ran well between the wickets and punished anything loose before Williams retired.

James also stepped down after scoring  27 but slightly blotted his cricketing copybook as he ran Russell Martin out like a dog after the No 3 looked likely to record a third successive big score with a four and a six before he was called for a risky single and failed by three yards!

Karl Davies vied for top all-rounder in the match with 24 not out and then  figures of 3 for 25 when he later bowled, with Daf Williams also laying a claim with 2 for 14 after his excellent batting!

Bily Clarke (3) and Llion Williams (0) came and quickly went before Iwan James returned to finish with 31 not out and Daf Williams reached 33 before he was superbly stumped legside by Scott Griffiths to give Rhys Daley figures of 1 for 23 alongside his father Nick (1 for 26) and Tom Grimwood (2 for 32) – as Llanrhian’s final score was further enhanced by 21 from ‘Mr Extras’.

Nick Daley and Scott Griffiths - best batsmen for The DockThe Dock needed a good start but lost Rhys Daley (5) and Grimwood (1), followed by Adam Phillips (13) but Daley Senior batted well in his two spells at the crease, so that after new captain George Smith (3) had fallen to a cracking catch by Llion Williams off Billy Clarke it was left to Scott Griffiths to contribute 18 before he became Karl Davies’ third wicket, this time to a fine Clarke catch.

So, it was Llanrhian who eased home but The Dock played their part in a hard-fought tussle played in the best of spirits, as were the other two games, but they just need to show more consistency and a little more and confidence in their ability if they are to climb the table.

Hook (93 all out) lost to Neyland A (95 for 3) by 3 wickets

Sean Hannon and Jack John - strong all-round for Neyland ANeyland A increased their lead at the top of the section with this top of the table clash with a young Hook side who pushed Neyland all the way, but the greater indoor know-how of Sean Hannon’s team saw them ease home with an over to spare.

And Hannon showed why he is the top indoor all-rounder in the game locally as he opened the innings with 24 runs, handed the wicket-keeping gloves over to Paul Murray, who was making a welcome cameo and showing he still has the touch with a cracking catch and two sharp stumpings, before Hannon’s outstanding three-over bowling spell saw him return figures of 3 for 9, including an unheard double-wicket maiden!

Hook lost top run-makers Liam Miller (4) and Harry Makepeace (run out for 1) with only 7 on the board and so George James and Aled Phelps had to consolidate and Neyland used their experience to turn the screw and restrict this powerful pair to 18 for 2 in four overs and 40 at the half-way mark.

Aled Phelps and George James - batted well for Hook under pressureJames retired on 25 and skipper Phelps on 26 before Owen Phelps (12) and Bradley Flood (7) finished the lower order but with time running out James was well caught by Murray (29) and Aled Phelps was run out on the same score.

Neyland only conceded four extras as Jack John grabbed a miserly 2 for 12 in three overs and although Dai Daves conceded 30 runs in a similar stint,  Andrew Miller went for 20 in two overs and a very fit-looking Steve Murray had 0-10 in his single over, Hook’s final tally of 93 all out was possibly less than they might have hoped for.

Hannon and co-opener Dai Davies didn’t get off to their expected flier as they only manged  22 in three overs and 52 at the halfway mark of their 12 overs, but they stayed together until Hannon was well caught by Bradley Flood off Owen Phelps, who bowled really well in three overs to finish with 2 for 16 as he also bowled Paul Murray for a second-ball duck.

Dai Davies retired on 25 and Steve Murray belted a quick ten before he was removed by Flood (1 for 29) – and it was left to veteran all-rounder Andrew Miller and Jack John to steer Neyland home with 14 not out apiece – and widen the gap on the other five teams as they also maintained a proud 100% record in the process.

Ian Milsom and Chris Stapleton - good umpires on the night
