Neyland slam Llangwm in Morris Cup curtain-raiser
Llangwm (64 all out) lost to Neyland (65 for 1)
Umpires: Dave Brandon & John Williams
Scorers: Janice Brick & John Laugharne
Neyland slammed Llangwm in their league meeting a day before the teams met again in the DR Morris Cup Final, shooting out the home side for a paltry 64 and then reaching their target for the loss of one wicket in 12 overs.
As both skippers pointed out afterwards, it had little bearing on what happened 24 hours later but more importantly victory kept Neyland firmly ensconced at the top of the table whilst defeat for Llangwm kept them pinned firmly in the relegation zone.
Llangwm were in trouble from the outset as Patrick Hannon shifted Jonathan Twigg and Matthew Kiff early on and Nick Koomen claimed a cracking return catch off James Venables that left the homesters on 8 for 3.
Joseph Kiff maintained his recent good form with top score of 28 alongside 19 from opening bat Will Beresford but no one else got to grips with Hannon (5 for 45) and Koomen (4 for 15) before Gary Lloyd claimed 1 for 0 at the end.
Neyland were soon giving chase as Paul Murray sought runs and skipper Gregg Miller played a sensible anchor role before he was dismissed just short of victory by Andrew Harries (1 for 7 in 2 overs). Murray had nine fours and a six in his undefeated 45 and Ashley Sutton was with him as Neyland strolled to victory.

Holliday helps Town before Potter powers them home
Narberth (183 all out) lost to Haverfordwest (184 for 3)
Umpires: Richard Merriman & Dai Morris
Scorers: Gwyneth Johns & Jayne Cole
An excellent all-round performance by Simon Holiday helped Haverfordwest gain a commendable win over
Narberth in which Town skipper Danny Potter also played a key role with his excellent batting.
Holliday claimed three wickets as Narberth built a sizeable total and then hit seven fours in his 56 after tea, whilst Potter looked back to something like his best form with 13 fours and a six in his unbeaten 73.
Narberth’s final tally owed much to Marc Hughes (11 fours and a six in his 58), Wayne Howells (35) and Ben Quartermaine (26) as they recovered from 110 for 6 after 24 overs to a decent final total of 183 all out in 43.2 overs.
There was a wicket apiece for Josh Wilment, Nigel Morgan, Simon Williams and James Morris but the bulk of the damage was inflicted by Haverfordwest’s ‘spin twins’ Clive Tucker (3 for 24) and Simon Holliday (3 for 17).
Haverfordwest lost a couple of early wickets as Ian Hughes (2 for 38) was the pick of the Narberth bowlers but then Holliday and Potter shared a stand of 73. When Holiday departed Dan Cole joined the fray with 19 not out – and The Town were home and dry in 43.3 overs.

Steve steers Lawrenny to vital victory
Llanrhian (172 for 8) lost to Lawrenny (173 for 4)
Umpires: Steve Blowes & Rob Cousins
Scorers: Malcolm Thomas (Lawrenny)
Steve Lewis inspired Lawrenny to a vital victory that took them out of the bottom two in the section table and kept Llanrhian pinned firmly at the bottom.
Llanrhian looked a little shaky at 69 for 5 as Rob Williams (5 for 23 in 12 overs) and Steve Lewis (2 for 38) caused them problems, only Gareth Davies (34) of the top order ever looking comfortable against them.
But then a stand of 87 by Nigel Delaney and Luke Jones really turned things around as Jones scored 35 before he was out and Delaney was unbeaten on 57 (seven fours). James Lewis also claimed 1 for 41 of the other Lawrenny bowlers but 18 extras helped take Llanrhian to what turned out to be a decent score after such a bad start.
But Lewis then took control of the Lawrenny batting after a useful knock by Brad McDermott-Jenkins (31), striking eight fours and three very big sixes at Llandigige Fawr on his way to 70 before he was caught on the boundary by Luke Jones seeking another big hit.
Hugh Griffiths was the perfect foil at the other end with his 40 not out (seven fours) and although there was a wicket apiece for Christo Arundel, Matthew Bennett, Gareth Davies and Nigel Delaney, Lawrenny were home and dry on 173 for 4 after only 33 overs!

Izzard stars in Cresselly come-back
St Ishmaels (152 all out) lost to Cresselly (153 for 7)
Umpires: Allan Hansen & Tony Waldeis
Scorers: Wendy Bradshaw & David Richards
A superb innings of 95 not out by Iwan Izzard helped Cresselly fight back from the brink of defeat at St Ishmaels as Bobby Webb (12 not out) stayed with him after their team had looked down and out on 114 for 7.
Peter Bradshaw led the Tish batting with 45 (seven fours) alongside Andrew Palmer (30), Andrew Williams (11) and a quick-fire 29 from Andrew Pawlett (five fours), but again Tish failed to utilise all their overs and were dismissed in 40 overs. Sam Harts (3 for 39), Bobby Webb (1 for 22), Harry Thomas (1 for 23) and Stefan Jenkins bowled well for Cresselly as slow bowler Simon Cole also chipped in with a 3 for 13 spell.
Harry Thomas (12) was the only other Cresselly batsman to look settled against Andrew Palmer, Dean John and Danny Flynn but Izzard showed his good form by stroking 15 fours and a six to keep his team in with a chance. Palmer (2 for 31), John (3 for 55) and Flynn (2 for 23) all bowled well enough in the early stages but it was Izzard who took control – and only missed out on what would have been a deserved century because he and Webb reached their target in 38.5 overs.

‘Seffie’ stars as Carew win again
Whitland (208 for 8) lost to Carew (210 for 4)
Umpires: Les Hastings & Mervyn John
Scorers: Janice Webb (Whitland)
A splendid unbeaten century by Ian Sefton sent Carew to victory over Whitland and pushed them further up the table and into a respectable fifth place.
Yet there was little indication of the fireworks to come as the first 17 balls that ‘Seffie’ faced weren’t scored from but then he really fired on all cylinders with 21 fours and three big sixes so that Carew reached their target with six wickets in hand and with 11 balls to spare.
Whitland’s total was achieved thanks to steady knocks by Ed John (22), Paul Davies (26), Johnnie Thomas (32), Scott Newton (24) and a late 48 not out from Steffan James that took the Borderers beyond the 200 mark for the loss of eight wickets. Tom Davies (3 for 37), Steffan Davies (2 for43) and Martin Scourfield (3 for 38) were the Carew wicket-takers.
As Sefton sped to his 127 not out there was support from Nick Scourfield (21) before Tom Davies stayed with him at the finish with 20 not out, whilst the successful Whitland bowlers were Johnny Thomas (2 for 57), Steffan James (1 for 19) and Scott Newton (1 for 31).
