All Blacks in fine fettle at the top of the table
Neyland 41 - Pembroke Dock Harlequins 3
A superb second half saw Neyland over-run Pembroke Dock Harlequins at The Athletic Ground as the All Blacks were only 10-3 in front at half time but then ran in 31 unanswered points to give them a deserved double since they had already beaten the Quins by 40-22 at Bierspool.
It earned them The Hier Cup, a two-leg trophy in memory of a great rugby-playing family, now happily resurrected, with Billy Hier and son Jason there to present the trophy to skipper George Williams – and, perhaps more importantly for Neyland, kept them firmly at the top of the table with seven wins from eight starts.
The All Blacks opened their account with a try from a line-out drive orchestrated by George Evans, formerly an outside half but now doing a really good job in the second row, alongside the likes of brothers Iestyn and Owain Evans (a flanker normally but slotting in well between Luke Griffiths-Dawes and Seb Mackintosh in the front row.
Griffiths-Dawes finished off a similar move for their second score, with help from Tal Tamilia, Dan Hart and especially Ben Williams.
The Quins finally opened their account with a penalty by skipper Ben Hathaway after Jack Price showed he could play No 8 as well as centre, featuring along with Liam Scourfield, Harry Owen and Danny Wilkes, but whenever they threatened through Craig Barnett and Damien Miller there was some good covering by the home back three of Liam Rees, Henry Macbeth and Matt Coles.
But the second half was all Neyland after they had scored almost from the kick-off as Ben Williams ploughed over from a scrum five before outstanding centre Patrick Bellerby showed his class with a try at the posts, both scores converted by No 10 Oli Rothero.
Skipper George Williams was next on the scoresheet with a cracking try that demonstrated his pace and power, before scrum half Owen Hamer, arguably Neyland’s most consistent player so far this campaign, was perfectly place to round off another concerted effort by forwards and backs.
Centre Bellerby rounded off the try scoring with his second try from a typical dart from the 22 and Rothero added the extra points to complete a good days’ work for The All Blacks – and send The Quins back over the Cleddau Bridge with sixth place after a fifth defeat in none league matches!

Former Welsh prop Evans eases The Otters to last-ditch win
Narberth 15 - Ystrad Rhondda 14
Narberth maintained their recent momentum with this last-ditch win over Ystrad Rhondda an in a fairytale finish it was former Welsh prop Rob Evans who grabbed the glory after coming on a replacement in the front row and being perfectly-placed to finish off a powerful late forward drive and emerge from the pile of bodies with a big smile on his face as it was enough to give Liam Gadd’s team a fourth win that takes them away from the danger zone.
In a way it was poetic justice because Ystrad had won 37-36 on the opening day of the season but even the coolest Otters’ supporter must have bitten their fingernails down to the quick after their team had trailed sat the interval, despite No 10 Jonathan Rogers contributing a try from a nicely-constructure move alongside the conversion and an earlier penalty.
Ystrad always seemed have the slightest of edges, however, as they were 14-10 in front after 67 minutes, thanks to tries by Alex Webber and Logan Hutchings, both converted by Rhys Truslove ,but covering well as The Otters desperately sought that try that would secure a fourth win in their last five matches, all by very close margins and with a losing bonus point in their other clash – and they really showed their steel to secure the spoils as Mr Evans claimed that try which he will still be celebrating into the early hours, along with some of his new colleagues!
Narberth: Ashley Sutton: Harry Fuller; Hedd Nicholas; Harrison Griffiths; Lewys Gibby: Jonathan Rogers; Alex Williams. George Rossiter; Kyle Hamer; Ryan Rees: Will Blackburn; Sam Martin: Josh Hamer; Tom Powell (Capt); Caleb Salmon.

Division One (West):
Vital victory for Seasiders as main rivals both lose
Tenby United 35 - Kidwelly 7
Tenby united completed a deserved double over Kidwelly on a day of extra celebration for The Seasiders because they not only received a bonus point for scoring five tries but nearest rivals Aberystwyth lost by a single point at Burry Port and the other promotion candidates in St Clears suffered a rare hammering at Yr Hendy!
The Seasiders had won 29-21 when they played early in the season at Kidwelly and knew the opposition wouldn’t be walk overs, so when they made excellent use of the elements to open up a 29-0 lead at the interval, with a bonus point secured, they knew it was a case of keeping their awareness at a high level, which they did as all Kidwelly could muster was a try by No 10 Dale Ford, converted by half-back partner Declan Smith.
And The Seasiders sealed their tenth league win in as many matches when from the very last movement of the game as Liam Price, who was looking sharp after coming on early because of a head injury for centre Gethin Bradney, and sliced down the middle before a perfect hand-off put Gwion Jones in at the posts before Lloyd Thomas slotted the simple conversion.
It was ace predator Dan Colley who opened the Tenby scoring with a typical drive from the back of a scrum after the start and Lloyd Thomas added the extras before The Seasiders were awarded a penalty try.
Then Liam Price sped through some suspect marking and Thomas converted, as he did when Colley claimed his second score before the break.
If they had attacked well in the first half Tenby looked good defensively after the oranges as Fletcher Broadhurst played really well behind a powerful pack in who Joe Poole, Alex Jenkins and skipper Tom Barrass led by example and the others willingly followed.
Nor The Seasiders face one of their stiffest tests of the campaign next Saturday as they travel to Aberystwyth, who know only a win will keep their promotion hopes alive, as well as seeking revenge for an earlier 27-12 defeat they suffered at Heywood Lane – so it should be an interesting tussle, to say the least!
Tenby United: Gwion Jones: Matthew Lewis; Gethin Bradney; Tom Edmonds; Jordan Asparassa: Lloyd Thomas; Fletcher Broadhurst: Ethan Morgan; Kyle Rossiter; Joe Poole: Luke Dedman; Alex Jenkins: Tom Barrass (Capt); Jack Brown; Dan Colley.
Replacements: Hywel Baker; Charlie Patching; Jake Roberts; Liam Price; Jack Gooding
. Referee: James Jones.
Division Two (West):
Setaro steers Laugharne home against brave Mariners
Laugharne 19 - Milford Haven 7
Laugharne started this game as hot favourites and although they eventually came out on top they faced real resistance from a gritty Milford Haven side who had their chances, especially in the first period, but failed to turn pressure into points.
Laugharne had already won 48-17 at The Obs but The Mariners deserve every credit for their stout resistance here at Wooford Park, with the home side opening their account as player/coach Nico Setaro intercepted a floated pass when The Mariners had a clear overlap and sped under the posts for young full back Lennon Renolds to slot one of the two conversions he found the target with as dynamic scrum half Adam Davies and bustling forward Carl Smith also got on the try sheet in the first half.
After missing several other clear-cut chances for tries and penalty kicks Milford finally opened their account with a try by strong-running centre Dan Jenkins which James Trueman converted – but, try as they did, they were unable to benefit from their strong play up front and were unable secure a losing point from a very good team display where they fully deserved one!.
Milford Haven: Robbie Jones: Dan Goodridge; Dan Jenkins; Aaron Cookson; James Trueman: James Williams; Dan McClelland: Luke Ryan (Capt); Ryan Williams; Aaron Mayne: Ethan Aldred; Jay Goodall: Zac Davies; Ieuan Davies; Dewi Williams.
Replacements: Dylan Evans; Andrew Sinton; Chris Treiver-Jenkins; Dean McSparron.

Fishguard & Goodwick were in contention at half time as they were only 8-5 adrift but lost their way after the break and could have no complaints about the final result.
The Seagulls’ tries were scored by scrum half max Jones and second row Rhys Lewis.
Sadly, our regular correspondent wasn’t at the game so no further details are available.
Fishguard & Goodwick: Mark Jones: Rhys Evans; Mike Jenkins; Dan Cleary; Dan Evans: Jake Jenkins; Max Jones: Will Delaney; Liam Wilkes; Iwan McVeigh: Cai Llewellyn; Rhys Lewis: Will Lewis; Sion Colella (Capt); Jac Delaney.

Division Three (West):
Blues beaten by top of table Tycroes
Tycroes 14 - Haverfordwest 10
Tycroes showed why they are top of the table as they completed a hard-fought double over Haverfordwest after winning 28-15 at Pembroke Road much earlier in the season – leaving The Blues having to settle for a losing bonus point after so much hard work, especially up front as skipper Karl Busch led his troops by example and they had their chances to win but couldn’t turn pressure into more points.
Tycroes led 11-0 at half time through a try by left winger Connor Thomas and although outside half Rhys Tench missed the conversion he made amends with two penalties.
The Blues fought back as skipper Busch powered his way over the line and No 10 Jack Codd added the conversion alongside a well-struck penalty – but Tench added his third kick on target top keep his team two points ahead of Tumble at the top of the section, with Haverfordwest now in sixth place after this fourth defeat in nine starts, including one draw.
Haverfordwest: Owain Roberts: Guy Barrons; Jack Evans; Matty Phillips; Scott Candler: Jack Codd; Ioan Hawkridge-Jones: Terry Lovell; Jamie Zambas; Tom Carrington: Jack Clancy; Karl Busch (Capt): Dylan Williamson; Mike Griffiths; Jake Evans.
Replacements: Dan Berry; Andrew Edwards; Teifion Owen; George Hopkins; Isaac Kelso-Jones.
Teifisiders storm to easy 12-try win
Cardigan 76 - Amman United 0
Cardigan achieved one of their biggest wins for some time as they ran in no fewer than 12 tries in this one-sided match against an Amman United side already assured of relegation and unable to score any points of their own.
The Teifisiders ruled the forward exchanges as Aaron Tomkinson, Guto Davies and Marcus Castle joined the front row of Andrew James, Sion Phillips and Will Brice as excellent ball winners alongside Dean Harries and Kieran Hurley so that half backs Llyr Jones and Ioan Toft could call the shots in a one-sided first half where the Cardis already led 41-0
Their tries in that time came from centre Emyr Harries, No 10 Jones (2), hooker Sion Phillips, flanker Tomkinson, John Lumb (on early after an injury) and second row Hurley – three of them converted by full back Shaun Leonard.
Cardigan continued to rule the roost after half time as further tries came from replacement Tom Taylor (back at his former club because Crymych weren’t in action), Leonard, Tomkinson (a second as reward for his outstanding support play), Guto Davies and a late final try by another replacement in Colin Davu=ies, all converted by Leonard to give him a personal haul of 21 points.
Cardigan: Shaun Leonard: Alun Jenkins; Iwan John; Emyr Harries; Jack Taylor: Llyr Jones; Ioan Toft: Andrew James; Sion Phillips; Will Brice: Dean Harries; Kieran Hurley: Aaron Tomkinson; Guto Davies; Marcus Castle.

Division Four (West) A:
Pacy Athletic slam sorry Saints
Narberth Athletic 36 - St Davids 0
Narberth Athletic confirmed their second spot in the section table after this easy win over a strangely off-colour St Davids’ outfit which was 10-0 adrift at half time but then leaked another unanswered 26 points after the break.
Full back Shane Rossiter opened the scoring with a penalty and then added the conversion when pacy winger Iestyn Doble raced over for the only try of the period.
Perhaps The Saints were knocked out of their stride after the oranges when they were attacking and a careless pass allowed centre Stephen J Brown to intercept and speed to the posts for a soft score which Rossiter converted.
Then good Narberth forward play by the likes of Stephen Thomas; Harry Phillips and especially Henry Foster, alter voted the Otters’ man of the match, set up the platform for No 8 Jack Tucker to score an unconverted try.
Further tries came from popular prop Jac Norcross and Luke Conbeer, on for the final stages, with both converted by Rossiter as The Athletic celebrated a high-scoring double since they had already won by 40-0 at Ty Ddewi!

St Davids: Bob Froy: Harvey Lavin; Morgan Griffiths; Will Savage; Morgan Davies: Owain Swain; Zak Morgan: Ethan Griffiths; Rhys Price; Adam Williams: Iestyn Owen; Harvey Godkin: Aaron Foster; Nathan Foster (Capt); George Raymond.

Dragons deliver in last quarter
Dreigiau Emlyn 32 - Llangwm 7
Llangwm were forced to make several late changes in readiness for their long trek to Newcastle Emlyn and still battled hard – but conceded late scores to enhance Dreigiau Emlyn’s final margin of victory, which gave them the double after a previous very narrow 19-17 win at Pill Parks
.
The Wasps were only 10-0 down at half time but their only points came from a powerful run by centre Yale Grice, his try converted by outside half Breig Matthews.
No scorers were available from The Dragons!

Llan push The Bulls as they continue to improve
Llanybydder 13 - Teirw Crymych 23
Teirw Crymych had beaten Llanybydder 42-21 at Parc Lloyd Thomas but were pushed even harder this time and the teams shared 20 points in the first half before The Bulls pulled away late on.
Second rows Jack and John Evans claimed the Llan tries as reward for lots of hard work by their pack, with centre Owin Rees landing a penalty – but Crymych scored tries by Aled Hughes, Gruff Williams and No Osian Thomas, whilst experienced full back Adam Phillips kicked a conversion and two penalties to give them fourth place in the table, with five wins and a draw alongside three defeats.

Friendly Fixture:
Scarlets enjoy a useful run out against emerging Seasiders
Pembroke 55 - Tenby Seasiders 10
With Pembroke having no league fixture and Tenby United quite rightly determined to show the WRU that they deserved a second team playing league rugby, as Crymych, Narberth and Newcastle Emlyn are doing so we, this was a great chance t play a game for different reasons; with The Scarlets eager to rest a few players and give a chance for fringe players to shine, and Tenby again proving their second team is sustainable.
The Scarlets gave a run out to outside half James Allen, prop Tom Cabot, Deryn Williams (flanker) and Tommy Oakley alongside old hands like former long-time skipper Scott Powell, who was the man of the match for not only scoring two tries but showing the vital link work he has always done with his ability to keep play flowing by off-loading at exactly the right time.
In the Seasiders camp, there was a nice try for centre Joe Andrews and one from veteran forward Nicky Guymer, who recently celebrated his 40th birthday and is as keen as ever to help out!
The other Pembroke try scorers were Jared Sherratt (2), Lewis Davies (2) James Allen, Jack Nicholas and Cabot, with Sherratt slotting five conversions on his way to a personal haul of 20 points.
