West Dragons F.C
Squad List
Andrew Mathias
25, Welding apprentice
Goalkeeper
In his third season with The Dragons and has been a key figure in his side's success this season. An ever present in the league and cup games, and caught the eye in the semi final with a superb one handed save when his side led 1-0.
Ian Harries
22, Welder
Defender
Has been with the club since they first formed five years ago. A reliable and assured defender, and seems to play with a wealth of experience despite his young age. Another one to impress in the semi final. |
Ewan Cunningham
21, Labourer
Defender
A solid defender who, like Harries, as been with the Dragons from the very beginning. Strong in the tackle and also a key player in attack as he capable of delivering telling crosses and corners with his left foot.
Scott Delaney
17, Tesco
Defender
A player who came of age in the semi final, as he did a superb job to keep the Hakin frontline quiet. Joined the Dragons from Goodwick in pre-season, and has a bright future ahead of him.
Karl Hedley
23, Landscape gardener
Midfielder
Another player who joined from Goodwick this season, after starting out at Letterston. Lightning quick across the ground and his pace will cause problems for any defence as the wide spaces of the Meadow suit him perfectly.
Jonathan Clarke
26, Retail manager
Midfielder
An influential player who played with his manager for Newcastle Emlyn in the Welsh Leagues, and also played for Haverfordwest County. Only signed for The Dragons four weeks ahead of the semi final, but had a big impact and will be a key figure in the final.
Steven Dockerty
21, Tree surgeon
Midfielder
Started his senior football career at Prendergast Villa but has been with the Dragons the past three seasons. A skilful player and a handful for any defender, he also scores his fair share of goals, and chipped in with the third in the semi final.
Jamie Palmer
24, Refinery worker
Midfielder
A tenacious midfield player and a good distributor of the ball. Desperately unlucky not to start the semi final after falling ill before the game, but will give everything if selected to start the final.
Rob Hedley
28, Labourer
Midfielder
In his second spell with the Dragons and, like his brother, can wreak havoc for defences with his speed. Rob loves to get forward and is capable of quality deliveries from out wide. He will have to be watched closely in the final.
Jay Brockway
21, Personal trainer
Striker
Scored in the Senior Cup Final when Goodwick beat Merlins Bridge in 2010. Now lives in London but travelled home for the semi final and, rest assured, he'll be home for the final. Jay is strong in the air and good in front of goal, a real match winner for the Dragons.
Scott Crawford
23, Mechanic
Striker
Man of the match in the semi final, scoring two crucial goals and was unlucky not to get more. He has been with the Dragons from the start and a real threat with his movement and dribbling. Scott will be looking to repeat his Hakin heroics in the final.
Niall Kinsella
17, Student
Midfielder
Another promising youngster who has been impressive after joining mid-season from Goodwick. Tremendous work-rate and won't let the Dragons down if he plays on the day since he can cover at the back as well as midfield.
Joe Brill
16, Student
Defender
In his first season of the senior football and a player who makes light of his size and supposed inexperience. A good tackler and comfortable in possession, and a member of the Haverfordwest Academy and Dragons under 16 sides.
Nigel Delaney
38, Delivery driver
Player/ manager
A wealth of experience and like Brockway, a Senior Cup winner in 2010 with Goodwick. Has enjoyed great success in his first season as player manager with The Dragons and after an assured display in the semi final, may justifiably select himself at the back to start on Saturday.
Byron Phillips
55, Oil company employee,
Assistant manager
Has twice won the Senior Cup as a player with Monkton Swifts but will be hoping for a better final day than last year, when he managed the Swifts as they lost 5-0 to Hakin. Joined The Dragons as a coach this season and his experience has proved a big asset.
.
Matthew Price
37, Physio
Player/coach
Is cup tied after joining the Dragons from Merlins Bridge in December. Has scored regularly since joining and has also assisted with coaching. Like Phillips, hoping to improve on his last final experience, when his Bridge side lost to Goodwick 3-1.
