Goodwick grab 10 as Hakin battle in vain
Todaro’s Hair and Beauty Pembrokeshire Junior Football - Under 16s Cup Final:
Goodwick United 10 - Hakin United 0
Venue: The Bridge Meadow Stadium
Referee: Dave Badger
Assistants: Steve Williams and Keith Amos
Goodwick United’s talented under 16 team showed supreme form in their age-group final to beat a Hakin United team that conceded early goals and paid the price against opposition that revelled in the wide-open spaces at The Bridge Meadow Stadium whilst the Young Vikings struggled to contain their front runners and their genuine pace.
But Hakin deserved every credit for battling until the final whistle, even when they went down to ten men, and had their chances but were quickly closed down by a Goodwick defence in which Tyler Morris, Frankie Pearce, Harri John and Harvey Dalton gave good cover for keeper John Chesters.
For Hakin, Jake Williams and skipper Evan Rutherford tried hard to stem the attacks from Goodwick and goalkeeper Aidan Tansey made some excellent saves but had little chance against such strong strikers as Dan John, Seth Woodhouse and Sam Fallows.
Super strike to open the scoring
But it was full back Tyler Morris who opened the scoring for Goodwick early on from a free kick almost 35 yards out on the right which he powered into the far top corner for a terrific strike.
Hakin had their chances early on and Taylor Collins hit the woodwork and had his rebound attempt saved by Chesters as he worked hard up front alongside Lucas Aldred and Tom Paddison.
But then Goodwick front runner Seth Woodhouse showed his clinical finishing as he rattled off a hat-trick between the ninth and 25
th minutes; the first from a penalty after Dan John had been brought down in the box and then rounding off good work by twins Dean and Harri John.
Sam Fallows made it 5-0 at half time as skipper Kyle O’Sullivan played a big part in keeping Goodwick going forward.
Five more goals after the interval
The second half followed a similar pattern, despite Hakin’s best efforts via Rowan Llewellyn, Tom Edmonds and skipper Rutherford and after being able to set up goals in the first half Dan John grabbed three goals in 15 minutes with assists from Woodhouse and Kyle Smith.
Then brother Harri decided to get in on the act and scored before Henry Sturman finished things off with his team’s second penalty of the evening before Kyle O’Sullivan collected the trophy from Ceri Morgan, the chairman of the Pembrokeshire League.
