Holders Goodwick stroll past poor Bridge to comfortably reach semis

Senior Cup holders Goodwick United showed they had far too much fire power for Merlins Bridge cope with as they reached the last four of the competition also in contention for the treble.
 
A brace apiece for Will Haworth and Rhys Dalling plus Jonny Horgan added his name to the score sheet for Chris O’Sullivan’s team.
 
The visitors led 4-0 at half time and added a further goal in the second period as the Wizards struggled against the slick Phoenix Lads.
 
Goodwick opened the scoring in the first minute when Steff Hayes’ long throw in the box fell kindly for Haworth who clinically finished with a six-yard left footed strike.
 
Three minutes later Goodwick added a second as Dan James fed Jonny Horgan who cut in from the wing and struck a 30 yard belter to stun the Wizards.
 
Jamie Palmer was adjudged with handball in the area as referee Alan Boswell pointed to the spot as Dalling obliged from 12 yards for his side’s third.
 
On the half hour mark the visitors added a fourth as quick thinking by keeper Kyle Marsh, his long punt up field was read by Dalling who latched onto it before rounded Henton which put Goodwick 4-0 ahead at half time.
 
After the break the Wizards competed better as Steff Williams and Will Evans had shots, but the visitors were awarded a second penalty as keeper Henton clattered Horgan inside the box, the wide sided midfielder was badly winded and was replaced by Nathan Greene. Up stepped Dalling for the spot kick as he struck the post and missed out on a hat-trick, which was a let off for the Wizards.
 
However, Goodwick added a fifth goal in the 69^th  minute as the dangerous Haworth drilled in from 12 yards allowing for the angle to complete the scoring.

John bags extra time winner for Clarby

 

Milford United 2 – Clarbeston Road 3

Top notch triker Ben John scored in the first half of extra time to secure victory for Clarbeston Road against Milford United at Marble Hall.
 
After 90 minutes it finished 2-2 and the Road secured their semi-final place as they scored the winner in the 110^th minute when Laurie Haworth teed up John who made no mistake from inside the box.
 
Mat Fox’s Road outfit started brightly as they scored two goals in the opening twelve minutes, on 6 minutes Jake Booth found the back of Chris Malloy’s net, just six minutes later Haworth bagged his side’s second.
 
The Robins bounced back to score twice in the space of a minute just before the break, Scott Reid pounced and straight from the kick off Morgan Picton was on target with his side’s second to level matters at 2-2 at the interval.
 
No further goals in the second half, in extra time John grabbed the winner to break the Robins’ hearts as the Road marched into the semi-finals.
