Super Haworth hat-trick guides Senior Cup holders Goodwick to five-goal victory

 
 

Goodwick United 5 – Herbrandston 0

 
Will Haworth scored a cracking first half hat-trick which helped current Senior Cup holders Goodwick United who eased past Herbrandston to reach the quarter finals at a rain swept Pheonix Park.
 
The division one outfit proved to strong for the gritty second division team, the hosts led 3-0 thanks to Haworth who bagged a hat-trick in 33 minutes, after the break midfielder Rhys Jones and skipper Scott Delaney added further goals.
 
Conditions were tough both teams as it lashed down for 90 minutes which made the going tough for both teams.
 
Goodwick manager Chris O’Sullivan was pleased with his team’s whole hearted efforts as they grabbed five goals but also kept a clean sheet.
 
Howarth scored with far post finish as he latched on to a low Daniel James cross with five minutes on the clock.
 
Sixteen minutes later saw Goodwick double the lead as Haworth played a neat one-two with Rhys Dalling before he drilled home from 15 yards out.
 
Seven minutes before the break Steff Hayes’ long throw in was met by a glancing Scott Delaney flick on which allowed Haworth a close range tap-in.
 
Four minutes after the interval the hosts added a fourth as Rhys Jones benefited from a neat Ben Adams assist, the midfielder lashed his effort into the back of the net.
 
Eleven minutes from full time the hosts added a fifth goal when Sion O’Sullivan’s cross in the box was met by a powerful 12 yard header by Delaney.
 
Prior to kick off both teams observed a minutes silence for Herbrandston stalwart Reg Owens who has died.

Blundell bags dramatic late winner for Tigers

Joey George scored for Johnston who fought back to win at CamroseKieran Blundell scored a late winner for Johnston who came from two behind to secure victory in a five goal cup thriller.
 
The Tigers reached the quarter-finals the hard way as Scott Chalmers had scored either side of half time to control this cup tie played in atrocious weather.
 
Chalmers struck the opener in the 37th minute, a minute after the break Martyn Tweedie set-up Chalmers who buried the second.
 
The Tigers roared back to win this tie as they scored three goals in the final thirteen minutes to secure a dramatic unlikely victory.
 
Gino Cleal set-up Joey George who pulled one back for the Tigers, four minutes later, teenager Blundell teed-up Tom Richards who levelled matters, right on the stroke of full time Blundell scored a dramatic winner.
