Bags of goals was order of the night to kick off new season

On Tuesday (20th August) evening there was incredibly 20 goals scored in six top flight matches as the season  got underway.
 
Starting at Phoenix Park the home of the champions Goodwick United won 1-0 against battling Carew. Player manager Chris O’Sullivan assisted for the only goal, which was scored by substitute Rhys Dalling, minutes later the Rooks were reduced to ten-men as Sam Christopher saw red. There were no further goals in the second period as the Phoenix Lads finished with three points.

The biggest margin of victory was at Marble Hall where Milford United hammered close rivals Herbrandston (promoted last season) 7-0. Jacob Horn opened the scoring before Liam Parr added the second from the spot, just before the break Liam Davies was on target with the third. After the break, the Robins continued to dominate as they added a fourth through the lively Tyler Shiel, striker Liam Parks added the fifth and sixth before Cameron Lees added a late seventh to complete the scoring.
 
Shane Walsh celebrates scoring for Hakin against the BridgeKilgetty gained a thoroughly deserved 2-0 victory at home against Pennar Robins. The industrious Lloyd Phillips assisted for Jordan Gorman to find the back of the net early on, in the 29th minute Morgan Scourfield added his side’s second to secure three valuable points against the disappointing Robins.
 
Hakin United proved too strong for Merlins Bridge as the Vikings won 5-0 at the Obs. Leon Luby set-up Mark Jones who was on target with the opener, minutes later goal provider Luby turned score to give his side a 2-0 cushion at the interval. On the 70 minute mark Shane Walsh added a third from a rebound, two minutes later Alfie Stotter danced past a few Wizards’ defenders before he found the bottom corner. Mason Dalling came off the bench to drill in the fifth by virtue of a fine Stotter assist.
 
Monkton Swifts drew 1-1 with Clarbeston Road at Monkton Lane. Veteran Richard Bevan found the back of the net which gave the Road a one-goal cushion at half time. Thirteen minutes after the interval the Swifts levelled matters as Daniel Davies made no mistake from the spot.
 
New boys St Ishmaels lost 1-2 at home against Tenby. Tish got off to a bright start as Brennan Devonald hit the target to give his side the lead, six minutes the visitors equalised through Fraser Finlay. Nine minutes from full time new signing Joe Leahy (formerly of Merlins Bridge) put in Scott Ferney who bagged a timely winner for the visitors.
