Robins are too hot for Wizards

Ben Adams scored twice for Pennar. Picture Gordon ThomasA brace of goals each for Jamie Wilkes and Ben Adams earned Pennar Robins a thoroughly deserved victory in an entertaining tussle against Merlins Bridge at the Pembrokeshire Sports Village.
 
Eighth in the table Merlins Bridge will be disappointed that they didn’t fair better against fifth placed Pennar Robins, the difference between the two sides was the visitors were far more clinical in front of goal.
 
Nick Willis’ through ball in the 16th minute set-up Jamie Wilkes who brilliantly lobbed out of position Wizards’ goalkeeper James Dickson which gave the visitors the lead.
 
Five minutes before the interval Wizards’ midfielder Josh Thomas ghosted past the Robins’ defence before he struck a low drive from inside the box in the far corner.
 
On the stroke of half time some neat play by Cameron Brunton cross from the left set-up Ben Adams who made no mistake at the far post as his volley came off keeper Dickson via the back of the net.
 
In the second period the Wizards were close to levelling matters as skipper Jordan Thomas headed against Rory Williams crossbar.
 
Adams added the third in the 67th minute as the striker latched onto a poor back pass and subsequently rounded Dickson before he tucked the ball into an empty net.
 
Wilkes added his side’s fourth in the 89th minute as Liam Williams put the striker through on goal to complete the scoring.

Cope double sinks battling Herbie

 

Richard Cope scored twice for Kilgetty at HerbrandstonHerbrandston 0 – Kilgetty 4

 
Richard Cope led by example as the skipper scored twice to help Kilgetty to a hard fought victory against relegated Herbrandston.

 
The visitors scored two goals in each half to pick up their seventh win of the campaign as the hosts are still looking for their first point of a difficult season.
 

Kilgetty opened the scoring in the 28th minute as Cope found the back of the net, just before half time Lloyd Hughes doubled the visitors’ lead.
 

Shortly after the interval Cope was on target with his side’s third before Jordan Gorman drilled in the fourth in the 56th minute.

 
Credit to battling Herbie they stayed resolute for the final half hour – but it was the visitors who claimed the important points which puts them six points clear of the drop zone.

Goodwick defeat battling Clarby Road

 

Goodwick United 3 – Clarbeston Road 1

 
Clarbeston Road put on a battling performance despite going down to defeat at title favourites Goodwick United at Phoenix Park.
 
The hosts opened the scoring in the 29th minute as Scott Delaney and Alex Thomas were both involved as they set-up Jonny Horgan who finished clinically from 12 yards out.
 
Goodwick were awarded a penalty in the 59th minute when Rhys Jones was fouled inside the box, the midfielder dusted himself off before he put Road keeper Rhys Mansell the wrong way to put his side two up.
 
The visitors pulled one back in the 69th minute as Matthew Davies’ direct free kick beat Goodwick stand-in veteran goalkeeper Carl Woodhouse.
 
This game was in the balance before the hosts added a late third goal as Rhys Jones’ shot crashed off the underside of the crossbar before substitute Nathan Greene reacted quickest and followed up to gleefully header home.
