2024 Ladies' Cricket - Week Eleven

Burton Ladies

Hook 77 for 6 (4) lost to Burton 79 for 2 (16) by 8 wickets

Becky Barton 4-21 for BurtonBurton Ladies took a giant step towards winning the first division as they easily won this table-topping clash against a Hook side who never really got going after losing the toss and being asked to bat first.

Skipper Sam Rossiter continued her magnificent form from Sunday’s county match to reach 25 before having to retire but only Tia Rees (12 not out) gave any significant support of their experienced batters as Becky Barton was the undoubted Burton star with the ball as she grabbed four wickets alongside one by the consistent Lilly Thomas.

And talking of consistency the Scale girls then carried on their good form as mum Elaine and daughter Finola both reached the retirement mark, despite the efforts of talented young Hook bowlers Tia and Maddie, who claimed a wicket each as Burton widened the gap at the top of the table with their 12-point advantage gained from this deserved victory!

Hook now have to gain a maximum 20 points in their final match against Haverfordwest to snatch the silverware out of Burton’s grasp!

Cresselly 117 for 4 (18) beat Haverfordwest (111 for 7) by 6 runs

There was also a tight finish in this other first-division clash as Cresselly maintained their deserved third place be beating Haverfordwest, despite the all-round efforts of Jo Price for The Town Ladies.

Jo retired on 25 and was joined by Lyn Ward as the main contributors to their score on The Racecourse, with Caitlin Lewis and Teagan Cartwright sharing four wickets and Sophia Cole also getting amongst the wicket-takers.

But Cresselly had their usual top contributors to the run stakes in Meg Arthur and Zoe Minnett, both retiring after batting well - and although Jo Price and Caitlin Vaughan claimed a wicket apiece it was never going to be enough as Cresselly cruised home.

Cresselly Batting:
Meg Arthur 25no, Zoe Minnett 26no

Haverfordwest Bowling:
