Haverfordwest County picked up a thoroughly deserved win against ten-man Flint Town United at the Essity Stadium.

The Bluebirds came into this clash on the back of two wins and a draw, as Tony Pennock’s men picked up three vital points in North Wales which sees them top of the Play Off Conference with three games left to play.

First half goals by skipper for the afternoon Corey Shepherd plus an exquisite strike by Jordan Davies put the visitors in the driving seat, Bluebirds’ keeper Zac Jones will be delighted he kept a clean sheet, matters were made worse for the Silkmen as central defender Harry Brown was sent off for a second yellow card offence five minutes from full time.

Perfect start for Bluebirds

The visitors got off to a perfect start with barely five minutes on the clock midfielder Shephard drilled a low shot from the edge of the box into the bottom corner of Harry Allen’s net.

Minutes later the Silkmen came close to scoring as Zack Clarke struck a wicked effort inches wide also Okera Simmonds’ direct free kick from outside the box also flew wide.

Oscar Borg’s long clearance fell to the dangerous Davies on the right, the striker cut in from the wing to the edge of the box, he unleashed a spectacular left footed shot which comprehensively beat the despairing dive of Allen.

Minutes later keeper Jones denied Clarke from a one-on-one situation, as the visitors were happy to have a 2-0 cushion at the interval.

On the hour mark the visitors created another decent chance as the impressive Sheppard picked out Dan Hawkins with a pinpoint cross at the far post, but latter’s shot was saved by Allen.

In the 85th minute the Silkmen were reduced to ten men as Brown was sent off, in the 89th minute Davies nearly added his second of the game but his goal bound shot was cleared off the line by Bobby Beaumont-Broadhead.
