Pembrokeshire swimming is going from strength to strength

Pembrokeshire County Swimming recently held its 2014 AGM at Haverfordwest Leisure Centre and an abundance of parents and swimmers attended the meeting, presided over by chairman Phil Thomas.  Head Coach Craig Nelson provided his first report in the position since his appointment in November 2013.
 
The Chairman, in his address, thanked Gary Nicholas of Pembrokeshire Leisure for his continued support where he outlined his hope to further develop the current strong links within the Aquatic Partnership. He followed this by thanking Craig Nelson who has worked hard with the Performance squad and achieved some excellent results this year, in particular at the Welsh and British Nationals.
 
Former Assistant Coach Chris Davies who left to take up a position with Carmarthen Swimming Club was thanked for his efforts and his replacement Sam Jones was welcomed into the fold.

His thanks were extended to the Officers and committee for their support and contribution alongside Lorna Johns for maintaining the County website and Lorraine Saunders as County fundraising co-ordinator.
 
He thanked the sponsors for 2013/4 for their support, namely NFU Mutual; Glyn Edwards and Bert Edwards Office equipment and printing; Big Brums; Green Bower, JT Motors, Gravells Motors, Laroc, Frames Photography and Fast Track Driving School. 
                       
Craig Nelson presented his report which was warmly received by those present.  He highlighted that the County had attended 12 meets during the season, whilst he had the opportunity to be part of the Swim Wales coaching team for the Commonwealth Games and the British School Games (with three swimmers from Pembrokeshire in Jon Orchard, Jordan Harding and Daniel Davies). 
                       
He congratulated those who had been selected last season for Wales last season, namely:
Dan Davies, Ffion Davies, Kelsey Williams, Jordan Harding and Mikey Hire, before congratulating those selected for this season already: Louisa Twigg, Colm Tobin, Arabella Haley, Jordan Harding, Dan Davies, Jon Orchard, Dan Thomas and Nyle Lewis.
 
National Championship Results:
Swim Wales Winter Open LC (December 2013):
There were 6 Gold, 12 Silver, 6 Bronze.
Welsh Age Group Championship LC (April 2014):
Medals: 8 Gold Medals, 8 Silver Medals, 16 Bronze Medals
Welsh Summer Nationals LC (July/August 2014):
Medals: 14 Gold, 15 Silver, 12 Bronze.
*175 out of 252 swims were PB’s.
