Pembroke Dock Bowling Club guarantees its presence at National Finals in Llandrindod Wells
With two rinks reaching the finals of PCBA’s County Finals event recently at Milford Haven BC, the veteran bowlers of Pembroke Dock BC guaranteed their involvement in the National Finals, which are to be contested in Llandrindod Wells in mid-August.
In the PCBA Senior Rinks title – also known as the ‘County’s Over 60’s Rinks’ the title was disputed between a rink that was skipped by Dave Halward and included John Scott, Terry Main and Reg Thomas and another skipped by Richard Jones, which included Brian Dowling, Hugh Colley and Ken Edwards.
Pembroke Dock BC was well represented by their travelling ‘rent-a-mob’ and the occasional cry of ‘C’mon the ‘Dock!’ could be heard ringing around the St. Katherine’s Green. Of course, the crowd could not be seen to be partisan, so they expressed support for both rinks!
The match was keenly contested, with the more experienced rink finally skipped by Richard Jones, prevailing. The losing quartet certainly made a match of it; one of their number was heard to say,
“Well, we didn’t embarrass ourselves!”
Following the match, the winners were presented with the trophy by the PCBA President, Mr Jim Thomas of Milford Haven BC.
