Liam lights up Llandigige Fawr with his terrific batting
15 year old Liam Miller plays with a maturity and skill level that is way beyond his age and yesterday he completed his second undefeated century for Hook Seconds this season in their comfortable win over their counterparts from Llanrhian.
Liam had previously reached 102 not out against Narberth Seconds when he smashed the final ball of their innings for six but at Llandigige Fawr yesterday he opened the batting and struck 15 fours and five big sixes in a magnificent 146 not out.
Included in that splendid effort was a late 90 partnership with 14 year old Oscar Willington as they punished anything loose and ran really well between the wickets – with Oscar (14) also confirming his growing maturity with two wickets and a cracking boundary catch.
Appreciating his innings was Llanrhian wicket-keeper Fraser Watson, who told us that Liam’s innings was a pleasure to watch, despite the heat, and he also opened his team’s batting and reached a personal best of 81 before he was out in the final over, with Liam keeping wicket for Hook.
Interestingly, had Fraser managed to remain undefeated it would have meant that both he and Liam would have been on the pitch for all of the 80 overs – something that has surely never happened before in local cricket in its long history!
