Wonderful junior rugby festival at Bierspool
Junior Rugby Finals:
Crymych’s junior academy of rugby left Bierspool in celebratory mood as their talented young players won the first four of the six finals played in a festival superbly organised by Pembroke Dock Harlequins.
The Junior Rugby Finals Day was dedicated to the late Stuart Lewis, who had been the pivotal figure at Bierspool since he set up the junior coaching system over 30 years ago and it had everything from good parking to photographs, superb play and a smashing programme, food to fun activities which made it a family day, Huw Baker and his team of helpers made sure that everything ran smoothly, with Haverfordwest and Neyland as the other winners on a day when the skill levels, allied to excellent coaching, created a day to remember.
Ken Davies, who has been involved in the organising of this special event in Pembrokeshire’s rugby calendar since its inception 14 years ago said afterwards, “It has been a great day for junior rugby and there are so many superb young players breaking through. The clubs are raising the bar in terms of quality and we can’t wait for Haverfordwest to host the Finals Day next year.”
