The visitors broke the deadlock in the 11th minute, when Kieran Lewis struck from inside the box, but in the 26th minute the Old Gold goal scorer Lewis blotted his copybook when he was sent off after receiving with a second yellow card offence.

Despite going down to ten-men the Bluebirds failed to really capitalise with the extra man advantage as the visitors held on to a one-goal cushion at half time.

In the 55th minute the visitors took a two-goal lead from a set piece when Dave Vincent rose highest in the box and duly planted a powerful header from 10 yards past Alex Connell and into the net.

But about 30 seconds later the Bluebirds pulled a goal back, Declan Carroll threaded a through ball through the Old Gold’s static defence to Ricky Watts, the right back fired low right footed shot into the far corner past the outstretched Lee Idzi.

The homesters pushed hard for an equaliser, and were extremely unlucky as Declan Carroll fired a wicked shot just past the post, then both Borrelli and Sam Rodon missed with close range headers.
