Stalemate for Bluebirds in hard fought encounter at Penybont
JD Cymru Premier Championship Conference
Penybont 0 - Haverfordwest County 0
Second in the table Penybont fought out a competitive goalless draw with third placed Haverfordwest County at the SDM Glass Stadium.
Tony Pennock’s men shaded the first half as the game became scrappy in the second period with neither team were able to carve out any scoring opportunities.
Rhys Griffiths’ Penybont outfit are three points behind leaders TNS, the latter also have a game in hand, but the home outfit are seven points clear of the Bluebirds.
It was the visitors who came closest to breaking the deadlock in the 18
th minute when Ben Fawcett’s powerful header from inside the box struck Adam Przybek’s post.
Striker Ben Ahmun turned inside the area before his shot flew way over the bar from a long throw-in - minutes later an excellent long ball by Greg Walters to Ahmun saw goalkeeper Adam Przybek smoother a good chance for the visitors.
Chris Venables scuffed a great chance to score from the edge of the 18 yard which went straight to the grateful Zac Jones.

Just before the interval the Bluebirds were forced to make a change as defender Alaric Jones fell awkwardly on his wrist (which possibly maybe broken so he could be out for the rest of season) before he was replaced by Malta international Luke Tabone.
The second half became scrappy, Bont’s Ben Morgan skied a direct free kick from distance over the crossbar before Iori Humphreys low shot was desperately cleared also Ahmun’s looped a close range header which bounced on top of the net.
However, come the final whistle the home side must have felt happy with a point whilst the visitors will be disappointed they didn’t secure the three points that were on offer.
“It’s good to get a point and keep a clean sheet against a very good side,” said Haverfordwest County manager Tony Pennock shortly afterwards.
