Seasiders and Aber secure their places in this season's KO Cup Final - at Aberaeron

The splendid looking Pembrokeshire Knockout CupThe form book was confirmed in this season’s KO Cup Competition as Aberystwyth and Tenby United secured respective successes over Aberaeron and Haverfordwest that were hard fought and a credit to the performances of opposition who play in divisions Three (West) and 4 (West) A.

Aber and The Seasiders are top and second in the first division and with Narberth and Crymych first teamers excluded from participation in their Athletic and Bulls teams these two finalists are unofficial top two seeds in a competition where the lack of participation by some clubs is of some concern and still needs to be looked at.

Also of concern at the moment is the fact that Aberaeron RFC has been awarded this year’s final and there is obviously disquiet in Tenby that their team, and especially supporters, will travel 56.5 miles and Aber’s will makr a journey of 19 miles, which is hardly a central point for such a big day when it is hoped that neutral supporters will also turn up to support Pembrokeshire Rugby.

Other venues already suggested by local rugby fans, who have just heard the news, have been Crymych (Aber 44.3) and  (Tenby 24.3) or more convenient in terms of travel, Cardigan (Aber 39.5) and Tenby (32.5).

Our comments are not intended to upset Aberystwyth, who for years in the old Pembrokeshire League showed terrific commitment in District H and made those sorts of journeys every other week – or to Aberaeron, who previously hosted a final between Aberystwyth and Crymych and were perfect hosts, as their pride in being chosen was very evident for all of us who travelled there.

**Full match reports of both semi-finals, plus pics, will appear on Pembrokeshire Sport.co.uk tomorrow.**
