Match Three - Neyland A (120 for 3) beat Neyland B (100 for 1) by 20 runs

Neyland A are deserved champions for 2016 by Bill CarneNeyland Cricket Club A are again the indoor cricket champions of Pembrokeshire after they beat their B team in the final match of the season to maintain their 100% record and earn the right to represent the county in the Welsh Championships for 2017.

Neyland A batted first and their 120 for 3 total was built on an excellent 42 not out from opener Henry Durrant, which contained two sixes, five fours and two threes.

He was ably assisted by Nick Koomen (who retired on 26) and George Evans (19 not out) as they took the team score from 58 for 3 after Scott Jones (2 for 12) had bowled really well for the B team.

Scott Jone (27)s and Geraint Rees (26) then gave the B team a solid start with fifty runs in five overs but then both had to retire and the impetus was lost as Patrick Hannon (1 for 14) and Patrick Bellerby (0 for 8) applied the brakes so that although Paul Miller smote three sixes in his 28 (retired) it was the A team who triumphed.

Neyland skipper Sean Hannon received the trophy from sponsor Nick Evans of the Sports Shop and both thanks Wendy Bradshaw for her organizational involvement, Neil Croucher for his umpiring and Bill Carne for the coverage he had supplied throughout the competition.

Match One: St Ishmaels (148 for 3) beat Neyland B (75 all out) by 73 runs

St Ishmaels showed the power of their batting against Neyland B as they smashed 148 runs thanks to some huge hitting by Jon Pawlett, Danny Howells and Andrew Palmer before Neyland B wilted under the pressure and were dismissed for 75 runs against a five-man Tish fielding side.

Pawlett belted three sixes in his 25 before he retired, whilst Howells (two sixes and five fours) and Palmer  (five sixes and two fours) caused batting carnage when they returned to the fray after Rhys Davies and Kevin Bowen departed cheaply.

Paul Miller conceded 45 runs in his two overs, including a 16-ball second over, and only Tom Pritchard (0 for 18) managed presentable figures as Howells finished on 49 not out and Palmer remained undefeated on 52.

Geraint Rees continued his excellent recent form for Neyland B with 29 runs but when Gregg Miller was run out by Howells the writing was on the wall. Bowen claimed 2 for 15, Jon Pawlett picked up 1 for 7, Andy Palmer grabbed 1 for 9 and it was all over bar the shouting, despite an excellent 24 from Scott Jones.

Match Two: Haverfordwest (59 all out) lost to St Ishmaels (60 for 3) by three wickets

Haverfordwest elected to field a scratch side in view of their impending trip to Lords and paid the inevitable price as St Ishmaels shot them out for 59 as Kevin Bowen, Andrew palmer and Jon Pawlett all claimed two wickets apiece.

Only Nihil Mathias (20) and Simon Williams (16) really troubled the scorers – and Williams also excelled in the field with three catches as Archie Thomas claimed 2 for 11 and Warren Evans 1 for 14.

But Jon Pawlett belted a boundary-laden 31 not out and there was an unbeaten 18 from Andrew palmer as Tish celebrated their second win of the afternoon to finish their campaign on a high note.
