Midweek Rugby - All Blacks end season in style and Crymych reach Mike Fry U17s Final
Division Four (West) A:
Neyland make it 15 wins from 16 starts
Neyland 36 - St Davids 19
Neyland rounded off a memorable league season in style to become runaway winners of Division Four (West) A as they earned their 15
th win from 16 starts and a 20+ points lead over second-placed Narberth Athletic as they beat St Davids at the Athletic Ground to record the double, having already beaten The saints by 31-0 earlier in the campaign.
On this occasion The All Blacks were 24-0 ahead at the break and added a further seven points within eight minutes of the restart – but St Davids battled back to score 19 points of their own to show their mettle.
This was certainly no end-of-season run about because The All Blacks matched their yellow card total for the whole season as there received five yellow and one red card, whilst The Saints were also shown three yellow cards as the match official was clearly intent on maintaining a tight control.
Neyland took the initiative from the outset as good handling saw winger Henry Macbeth squeeze in at the corner before veteran second row Andrew Slark added a second as reward for the excellent support work that marked his many years in the back row; Oli Rothero adding the extra points.

This was followed by a Saints’ defensive error that allowed outstanding back rower Owain Evans an easy touchdown before centre Fletcher Picton pouched the bonus point try as he powered over near the posts for Rothero to convert.
Things became even worse after the interval as The All Blacks added the try of the match as George Williams set his three quarters in motion and as play was swung wide by Patrick Bellerby and Picton it was winger Josh Watts who raced through for Rothero to convert.
But The Saints finally rallied as Ethan Griffiths, Rhys Price and Ben Lloyd began to win some ball and flankers Aaron and Nathan Foster helped No 8 George Raymond to open their account before winger Bob Froy converted.
Neyland hit back when scrum half Owen Hamer crossed the whitewash for an unconverted try – but Saints’ player/coach Morgan Griffiths sped through to reduce the deficit and No 8 Raymond added his second try to add a bit of respectability to The Saints’ final tally from the last move of the match.

Under 17s - Mike Fry Cup Semi-Final:
Crymych youngsters beat The Blues to reach final
Crymych 18 - Haverfordwest 10
Crymych Under 17s reached the popular Mike Fry Cup Final as they fended off the strong challenge of their counterparts from Haverfordwest in an absorbing clash at Parc Lloyd Thomas which showed all that is good in this age group in terms of high skill levels, pace and commitment, which was well refereed by Mr Ed Howells.
Crymych had the better of the first half to take a 13-0 lead before The Young Blues battled back with two unconverted tries, only for the home side to kill off hopes of a late score to snatch the game awa with a third try of their own.
Crymych opened their account with a penalty from No 10 Owain Evans, who played well alongside gritty half-back partner Dafydd Bryan as they added good unconverted tries by back-rower Harri Thomas and winger Ifan James as George Nelson, Delme Alleyne and Elliot Bailey-Williams caught the eye up front and winger George Griffiths and centre Kian Ladd did the same behind the scrum.
Whatever coach Steve Parry said to his slightly depleted side at half time it certainly had its effect as Caio Jones, Jack Robinson, Cruz Findlay, Ollie Warlow and skipper Harri Evans did well in the ball-winning stakes and Connor Wesly and Alfie Thomas used possession well alongside centra Daf Williams, who was voted The Young Blues’ man of the match.
Tries came from dynamic No 8 Harvey Thomas and replacement prop Brayden Jones to set up a tense finale but in the final analysis it was Harri Thomas who ploughed through for his second try, and the final try of a cracking contest to ensure a hard-fought home win.
So Crymych will now play either Tenby United or Narberth in the final at its traditional home at Heywood Lane, which if it matches the high quality of this tussle will be well worth a watch.
