Haverfordwest County 3 – Colwyn Bay 1

Haverfordwest County signed of their last league home game of the season in style with a thoroughly deserved 3-1 win against Colwyn Bay.

This early kick off game was televised live on Sgorio as the Bluebirds led 2-0 at half time with impressive Rhys Abbruzzese and Lee Jenkins with the goals, after the break Ben Fawcett added a third before Thomas McCready scored a late stoppage time consolation for the visitors.

Tony Pennock’s men got off to a bright start as they scored twice in the opening ten minutes, firstly Abbruzzese scored with a trademark edge of the area free kick which flew in the top corner for a superb finish, secondly Jenkins flicked on back headed home from a long free kick in the box by scorer Abbruzzese.

Those two goals settled the nerves of the large crowd at the Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium, as manager Pennock must have felt happy with the two-goal cushion at the break.

In the 73rd minute a poor clearance by Colwyn Bay goalkeeper Reece Trueman fell kindly to Fawcett, the striker gleefully guided the ball into the back of the net from outside the box to put the Bluebirds out of sight.

However, the visitors grabbed a consolation goal with the very last kick of the game which was credited to skipper McCready.
