2024 Ladies' Cricket - Week Eight - 17th July

Division One:

Pembroke 66 for 2 (4) lost to Hook 67 for 3 (14) by 7 wickets

Emilia WilsonHook maintained their 100% record at Treleet as they comfortably defeated a Pembroke team which won the toss and batted before the visitors reached their target for the loss of only three wickets and as a result stand a single point behind Burton but having played a game fewer.

Jodie Lewis and Bobby Neale are Pembroke’s most consistent performers and again proved their worth as Jodie retired on the maximum score and Bobby gave support with bat and ball.

But it was to no avail as Emilia Wilson returned to action and claimed 1 for 2 from her four overs and had two maidens as she only conceded two singles in 24 balls, with Tia Rees also bowling well before Kate Farr set Hook on the right road with her undefeated knock and Tia Rees saw them home!

Katie GriffithsSt Ishmaels put home advantage to good use after Pembroke Dock won the toss and batted but were unable to reach a very challenging score as Tish bowled and fielded well to maintain their third place, whilst The Dock stay in top spot despite losing their second game of the season.

Katie Griffiths (17) was the pick of The Dock batters but four of the Tish bowlers took wickets, with a brace apiece for Gwen Davies and Tracey Chandra.

Carew 148 for 2 (17) beat Saundersfoot 111 for 5 (6) by 37 runs

Carew produced arguably their best performance of the campaign so far at Saundersfoot after the home team asked them to bat first and The Lady Rooks built a huge target that The Seasiders were unable to match.

Leading the charge for Carew were Jess Griffiths, Kirsty Waygood and Kristin Jordan, who all reached the retirement total, with Jacqueline Goodwin also batting well despite the bowling efforts of Katy Joseph for the homesters.

Rachel Vickery and Madi Neye were the principal run-makers for Saundersfoot, but Nia Simes and Lily Buckle bowled well for Carew, supported by some very good work in the field by the rest of the team.

Whitland 114 for 3 (18) beat Kilgetty 80 for 6 (5) by 34 runs

Lani HogbenAngharad JenkinsWhitland confirmed their right to be considered promotion candidates as their comfortable win at home to Kilgetty took them very close to the head of the table, and their major points haul came after they were put in to bat and had key run-gatherers Angharad Jenkins and Lani Hogben to the fore as both batted with their usual conviction and reached the retirement score.

Phoebe Pearson and Lewis Hughs were the pick of the Kilgetty bowlers and they had a very useful undefeated innings from Chloe Bland in their response but tight bowling from Fflur Davies, Tabitha Davies and Sally Windsor made sure that Kilgetty were always behind the clock as they remain in bottom place but continue to show the strides they are making in all areas of their game.
