Gary Dawes (Team Manager)
Aged 46 - Company Director
Gary has had a major influence in Hakin as a player and manager, playing in seven finals and captaining the Vikings to a record-breaking seven league titles in a row, as well as being manager in three finals. This season inspired the new county team and showed his ability to bring players from several clubs together as an inspirational motivator of his squad.

Malcolm Jones (Assistant Manager)
58 - Lorry Driver
Played much of his football as a gifted Welsh League player at Milford United – hence just one final as a player who was held in high regard for his superb skills. ‘Jimmy’ is also respected by the players for his ability to read the opposition and managed in five finals to show that he has been part of a great coaching team with his manager.
James Manson (Goalkeeper)
26 - Carpenter
Perhaps one of the most under-rated goalkeepers in the county because James is a great shot-stopper and loves to take control of his area as only a few custodians can. Gained experience with Haverfordwest County in the Welsh League and has already played in two previous finals.
Ewan Findlay (Central Defender)
30 - Instrument Technician
One of the most experienced players in the squad and a great reader of play as he sits at the heart of the defence and puts in telling tackles at key times. One of the better organisers of a defence and a county player in recognition of his ball-playing skills. He has played in four finals and never once let his team down as a previous captain of some note.
Matthew Broome (Central Defender)
22 - Refinery Worker
Matthew is an excellent full back with a terrific tackle and willingness to push forward in support of his front runners but has showed his versatility by slotting into a back three as the Vikings play five in midfield. Still a relative youngster but already appeared in three finals as proof of his contribution to Hakin – and a regular in this season’s county squad.
Daniel Armstrong (Central Defender)
24 - Manager at Bookmakers
Daniel is one of the new breed of players who have their way into contention at The Obs and has really caught the eye at the heart of the Vikings’ defence with his strong tackle, sound aerial play and an ability to keep calm under pressure and play the ball out of defence, rather than just using a big boot. This will be his first final.
Mark Jones (Midfield/Full Back)
27 - Construction Worker
Mark has adapted really well to his role in midfield after previously playing at full back – but is comfortable in either role because he is strong in the tackle and good in the air, alongside his ability to distribute the ball well or push forward in support of the front men. He has already played in three finals and is sure to feature again in this one.
Steven Mathias (Central Midfield)
34 - Port Authority Worker
Now regarded as being in the veteran Stage, Steve is still capable of running the midfield show if he is allowed because although his pace might have slackened he still has that unerring ability to read a game – and score big goals at key times. Amazingly, he has played in nine finals – and never finished on the losing side!
Jonathan Bennett (Central Midfield)
27 - Roofer
Jonty is a midfield grafter who relishes his ball-winning role but he can also be a creative influence with his ability to play the simple ball at the right time. He can also push forward to score goals and if he plays well then so do those around him. He has played in four finals
James Stanmore (Wide Midfield)
28 - Process Operator
James is rightly held in huge regard by colleagues and opponents for his ball skills out wide which allow him to create chances for his team mates. But he is also a tenacious battler for the ball and can score enthralling goals, as he did in the semi-final, where his super-strike would have graced any ‘goal of the month’ competition on ‘Match of the Day’! He has played in three previous finals
Ben Steele (Midfield/Striker)
20 - Bricklayer
Ben is a natural goal scorer who has made an immediate impact since joining the Vikings after a spell in Australia but he can also play out wide on the left, linking with team mates to get the ball into danger zones or take defenders out of position with his off the ball running. He could play a major role in this his second final.
Ashley Bevan (Left Midfield/Striker)
24 - Construction Worker
One of the key players in the Vikings’ set-up with his non-stop running and ability to put opposing defences under pressure with his direct attacks on goal which have seen him as a county regular this season. He set up several goals for others and scored himself in a superb semi-final display, and in his fourth final could be a key player if his team are to win.
Nicholas Woodrow (Striker)
29 - Radiographer
Currently leading the team by example with his outstanding goal-grabbing abilities that make him very hard to mark because his speed off the mark is matched by his ability in the air. In a rich recent spell he scored a hat-trick for the county, four goals in the semi-final and another three goals just a few days later. Certainly one to watch out for in his third final.
Daniel Evans (Defender)
18 - Retail Worker
One of the talented new kids on the block and a talented young defender who tackles and covers well but is also an excellent distributor of the ball, abilities which have forced him into the reckoning for a final place after a nice cameo in the semi-final. Definitely one to watch for the future!
Michael Cooper (Midfield/Striker)
41 - Council Worker
Mike has been a stalwart player for the Vikings and is still going strong at a time when most players have hung up their boots, because he stays fit and can still score vital goals. Came on in the semi-final and could be adding to his list of eight other Senior Cup Finals (never of which he has ever lost!) |
Gareth Fawcett (Defender/striker)
26 - Electrician
Gareth has never played in a final but could play a role here because he can play with equal ease in defence or up front, both of which allow him to use his powerful ability in the air alongside his good distributive skills for a big feller. He is also a very good rugby player but the Vikings could call him into action at either end of the football pitch with equal effect.
Andrew Postlethwaite (Coach)
46 - Fire Station Manager
A superb player in his day and now using the vast experience gained in Welsh League and at The Obs which saw him play in five finals and win a string of league medals – rightly held in high esteem and a great help to the management team.
Stuart MacDonald (Defender)
39 - Fireman
Making a reappearance after retirement and played as a sub in the semi-finals – and would never let the team down.
Adam Davies (Striker)
32 - Mechanical Fitter
A strong threat up front in his four previous finals and available for recall if required to impose another forward threat.
Scott Reid (Striker)
25 - Building Merchant
Joined the club from Herbie and another who is available to serve the Vikings on their big day. |
Ricky Diamond (Full Back)
27 - Construction Worker
A solid left back who won’t let the side down if called upon!
