Hakin close in on title after narrow victory


Surely Hakin United will now go on and win the ManHakin close in on title after narrow victoryderwood Pembrokeshire Football League First Division title after narrowly overcoming Goodwick United 3-2 at home.

The Vikings trailed 2-0 early on following goals by Stephen Evans and James Dean, but the Vikings fought back with goals from James Stanmore (2) and Ashley Bevan to claim the verdict. Goodwick’s hopes of an upset were not helped as they had Darren Devonald and Kieran O’Brien sent off as the visitors finished the top end of the table clash with nine men.
 
Johnston kept themselves in the race for the title with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Saundersfoot Sports at the Glebelands Ground. Joe John scored in the first half, but the Tigers put the game out of reach in the second half with further goals from Martyn Tweedie and Mark Jones.
 
Hundleton gained a precious 1-1 draw at St Ishmaels. This point means that the visitors will definitely play in the top flight next season as poor old Solva are relegated.
 
Reigning champions Merlins Bridge came from behind to win 2-1 at home against Pennar Robins. Phil Thompson scored first for the Robins, but Stephen McNabney equalised with a stunning strike and Dai Davies scored the winner midway through the second half.

Tenby gained a convincing 4-1 victory at home over close rivals Monkton Swifts. Sam Christopher (2), Curtis Hurlow and Callum Proctor netted for the Seasiders whilst Tom Meiring scored a consolation goal for the Swifts.
