Local youngsters do county proud
Haverfordwest Gymnastics Club recently entered the West Area annual tumble and vault competition for five, six and seven year olds – and did their county proud.
Each gymnast performs one vault and one tumble and the overall six individual gymnasts and top three teams are announced in each age group.
Youngest members shine
In the five year-old category, Haverfordwest had some outstanding results. Anabelle Wilson was our glory girl being crowned vault champion as well as picking up fifth place overall. Megan Evans and Poppy Owen also had individual success on tumble, picking up a bronze. The five-year old Red team of Oliver Reed, Lilly Campbell Lawrence and Poppy Owens came eighth, whilst Haverfordwest Silver team of Megan Evans, Freya Rand, Indi Lynch and Anabelle Wilson picked up third overall. Shaded out of a podium place!
In the six year-old category the success continued as Seren Holiday came ninth on tumble and eighth overall. Ffion Canton was our highest ranked six year old, coming seventh on tumble and being awarded a fifth place on vault before she also came fifth overall. In the team competition the Haverfordwest Blue team of Ava Mason-Davies, Jessica Hartley, Finn Macare and Morgan James came ninth and the Silver team comprising Ffion Evans, Dylan Grovesnor, Ffion Canton and Seren Holiday missed out on third place by 0.2 marks as they finished in fourth spot!
Lleucu stars with silver medal
In the oldest age category of the competition the club had more individual success. Lleucu Lloyd performed superbly coming fourth on vault, third on tumble and was therefore awarded the overall silver trophy. Haverfordwest Blue team, which consisted of Eleanor Evans, Indigo Young, Cody Milard and Harry Musslewhite came a creditable seventh whist the Haverfordwest Red Team of Molly Harries, Freya Lynch, Noah Husband and Lleucu Lloyd finished in fourth.
