Gymnasts pass artistic gymnastics grades with flying colours!
Throughout March local gymnasts from Haverfordwest Gymnastics Club have been busy attending various grading events which are part of the National Development Plan for Artistic Gymnastics and are designed to identify gymnasts that are currently working at the required level to pass their individual grade. The grades start at 14 and work up to grade 5.
In the grade 14 section, Honey Harries, Tamzin Husband and Polly Bland all passed their grade easily and Polly was the highest scorer from Pembrokeshire on the day.
There was also success for Katie Richards and Seren James who both passed at grade 13, where Seren was the highest scorer from Pembrokeshire in this category.
Progressing up to grade 12, Isla Davies and Lowri Boorman comfortably passed their grade and Isla was the highest ranked gymnast from Pembrokeshire. Lowri surpassed all expectations on the day and performed several gymnastics elements that she had not been able to master in training- brilliant determination!
Difficult grade overcome despite illness
Finally we had gymnasts competing at grade 11. Both Abbie MacDougall and Katie Crimmins delivered some superb routines and passed this very difficult and challenging grade. Katie had been ill the week building up to her competition and it was touch and go whether she would compete. Katie and Abbie will now go on to compete at a higher standard of gymnastics due to their success in the grading competition- so well done both.
As always the recent success would not be possible without the hard work of the dedicated coaches (Rebecca Jones, Sophie Storrow and Daisy Lewis), the judge (Laura Jones) and the commitment of all the gymnasts and parents. All the gymnasts are now in preparation for the forthcoming competitions coming up in the next few months.
