Nigel Delaney (Manager)
Aged 42 - Delivery Van Driver
After a long career which saw him appear in six finals (three winners' medals) he is putting that experience to good effect in a management team with Chris O'Sullivan. Not content with his football, Nigel is also a silverware-winning all-rounder in cricket with Haverfordwest who appeared in the national Indoor Finals at Lords this season. |
Chris O'Sullivan (Assistant Manager)
33 - Builder
Previously played in one final for Merlins Bridge but after a successful decade with Haverfordwest County opted to give something back to his home club - and is playing a key midfield role where he can spray the ball around and take set-pieces. 'Sully' is also a Welsh international amateur boxer.
James Gwilt (Goalkeeper)
32 - Publican
Currently club captain and one of the more vociferous keepers in the county, who works well with his back four and loves to have total control of his area. Proved he is one of the best shot-stoppers in local football in a recent West Wales Cup tie against Hakin where he saved a heap of penalty kicks - and scored from the spot himself! |
Steffan Hayes (Full back)
19 - Plumber
Undoubtedly 'the baby' of the team who has forced his way into the right back berth and stayed there with his defensive qualities backed up by his ability to press forward in support of the front runners. His father Dai served Goodwick for many years as a top player and it is fair to assume that Steff will do just the same!
Wayne O'Sullivan (Central Defender)
36 - Builder
One of the most respected defenders in the county who has served his club brilliantly, taking on the role of captain for many years and leading by example. Very strong in the air and in the tackle - and a surprisingly good distributor of the ball for a big lad. He has already played in a couple of finals and another former Welsh boxing champion (twice!)
Anthony Couzens (Central Defender)
30 - Entrepreneur
'Chunk' is another uncompromising defender: strong in the tackle and a powerful header of the ball, but also loves to push forward for set pieces and eager to play the ball well out of defence, rather than hoof it anywhere. As well as his undoubted footballing skills he is also a useful fast bowler with Fishguard Cricket (but not as good a batsman as he would like to think!)
Scott Delaney (Central Defender)
20 - Tesco's Worker
Scott has moved into the key central defender's role and has really caught the eye with his ability to stay calm under pressure and keep the defence tight. Strong in the air but deceptively good on the ground, where he always seems to have time to get out of bother with a neat touch or a slide-rule pass. One of the key players in the team despite being one of the youngest!
Johnny Horgan (Wide Midfielder)
28 - Bricklayer
A very strong runner who never stops working and is capable of grabbing vital goals, as he did with the opener against Milford United in the semi-final. An excellent crosser of the ball as he gets to the by-line and sets up chances for his colleagues - but also strong in covering back in support of his defenders.
Adam Raymond (Central Midfielder)
28 - Deputy Head Teacher
A very experienced central midfielder who loves to use his trusty left foot to good effect for his home club after many years of Welsh League football at Haverfordwest County and a range of other Welsh League clubs. 'Rayo' is also a very good batsmen at Haverfordwest and is eagerly anticipating his first final, where he will be hoping to make a considerable impact!
Kieran O'Brien (Wide Midfielder)
26 - Plasterer
Kieran has already played twice in Senior Cup finals and is a very industrious player who can get back to support his defence as well as pushing forward to get crosses in for his front men. Very fit and covers acres of ground during a game - and he will relish the wide-open spaces of the Conygar Bridge Meadow Stadium, as well as being able to score vital goals.
Rob Morgan (Striker/Midfielder)
23 - Plant Operator
A very experienced front runner who can score spectacular goals from all angles and create space for others with his running off the ball. Can also play midfield because he has talent aplenty and growing experience in the role. Previously played for Haverfordwest County and certainly one to watch in the final from set pieces.
Rhys Dalling (Striker)
24 - Farmer
One of the top goal grabbers in local football with his superb left-foot shot and willingness to run at defenders as he is very hard to shake off the ball. Rhys scored the winner in the final last season and had a goal in this year’s semi-final so will be looking to be on target again- and can also play cricket as a very strong fast bowler and useful batsman.
Darren Devonald (Midfielder)
32 - Bricklayer
A great club stalwart who can slot into a variety of positions and still serve the club well on the day in whatever role he plays. A strong tackler, non-stop runner, and useful passer of the ball he can be relied upon to help Goodwick do their best overall. |
Patrick Hughes (Defender)
27 - Tesco Manager
A strong no-nonsense defender who will be eager to get involved on the big day and put his skills to good use in Goodwick's cause. A superb tackler, Patrick is strong in the air and can pass the ball out of danger well. This will be his first final and sure to feature at some stage
Jordan Griffiths (Student)
17 - Left Back
Jordan Griffiths has worked really hard to find a place in the first team squad and definitely one to watch for the future. He has been playing left back and is able to read a game beyond his years - and won't allow his relative inexperience to hinder his part in the final.
