PembrokeshireSport.co.uk is delighted to be able to team up with Alun Evans, of Newport Links Golf Club in the creation of a brand-new Golf Section in which we aim to provide excellent coverage of the popular sport.
Alun is Director of Golf at the superb 18 hole links course in the north of the county and a PGA Professional so his monthly ‘Golf Tip’ feature will be of enormous help to aspiring golfers in the county – and there will be competitions where you regular readers of our web site will be able to win a round of golf or even some tuition from our resident professional! Alun is very much a local lad in Newport because he was brought up at the nearby Berry Hill Farm and used to walk across the fields to play at Newport Links after school and was soon catching the eye with his skills on the course. He completed his PGA training at the Radyr Golf Club course in Cardiff and was assistant pro there for five years before coming back to his roots some seven years ago, the last three of which he has been the club professional, with his own golf shop at Newport Links. |  |  |

As well as being an expert coach, Alun holds the course record as an amateur (67) and professional (65) at Newport Links, played in tournaments all over the country, represented Wales whilst in school and as an amateur before playing in the European Team Championships and helping Wales gain third place. He loves his coaching work and is delighted to see youngsters beginning to break through into the Welsh squads for their age group and is always looking to see others join the club – where everyone is guaranteed the warmest of welcomes from Alun! | ||
