This is the first time in the club’s history that they have staged top European women’s football action on a picturesque football ground that has been complimented by top UEFA officials.

“Both games have been received well by UEFA,” said Haverfordwest County chairman Rob Summons. “We’ve all worked hard to accommodate this international event and the fruits of our labour have certainly paid off.”

Ceri Stennett, from the Football Association of Wales, told PembrokeshireSport.co.uk,

Last Thursday, a strong Germany outfit defeated last year’s holders Sweden 2-0 with a superb display. Four time winners Germany were well on top on a scorching hot afternoon, and they put the game to bed with two second half headers by talented striker Pauline Bremer to march into the semis.

On Sunday, on another sweltering hot afternoon there was an even bigger crowd to support Wales that included Pembrokeshire born Angharad James in their starting line-up, and she worked tirelessly playing in a central midfield role.

Two time winners France ran out comfortable victors by a 3-0 margin and deservedly marched into the semi-finals.

Les Bleuettes opened their goal-scoring account with a stunning strike in the 28th minute by Sandie Toletti who comfortably beat goalkeeper Alice Evans from distance. Clarisse Le Bihan struck a low drive to make it 2-0 at half time. In the second half Le Bihan added a third, with her second goal of the game, again beating Evans with a fierce shot from outside the box.
