Division One and Two Reports 4th May 2019
Carew continue to top table
Carew (240-5) beat Lawrenny (179 all out) by 61 runs
Carew continued their rampant start to life back in Division 1 as they racked up too many runs for Lawrenny and kept a tight rein with their strong bowling attack.
The Rooks batted first and racked up a huge 240-5, with Tom Davies (53) and Ian Sefton (47) both continuing their good form from the win at Llangwm the previous week.
But it was Tim Hicks who lit up the innings with a boundary laden 87, while Rhys Davies also made 28 as Ryan Morton (1-51), Harry Thomas (1-48), and Brad McDermott-Jenkins (1-66) did their best to keep things in check for the visitors.
But Joe Kidney’s side fell 61 runs short in their reply as Tom Davies and spinner Ceri Brace shared eight wickets between them.
Davies took 4-38 and Brace 4-56, with James Hinchcliffe helping finish the job with 2-44.
That was despite Harry Thomas backing up his century in week one with 55, while Brad McDermott-Jenkins blazed his way to a quick 33; but those two couldn’t get the support they needed despite starts for James Phillips (16), Steve Campbell (15), and James Skeels (15).

Neyland beat neighbours Burton with some ease
Neyland (111-1) beat Burton (109 all out) by 9 wickets
Neyland made light work of Burton as Patrick Bellerby and Nick Koomen ensured they negotiated their run chase with ease in only 24 overs.
The visitors batted first but their total of 109 all out never looked enough as only Toby Hayman (21) and Jonathan Venables (22) looked like getting going, with Martin James (10) the only other batsman in double figures.
For the home side it was old head Andrew ‘Windy’ Miller who yet again spun his way to wickets with 3-38, while Geraint Rees (2-22), Tom Pritchard (2-10), Sean Hannon (1-16) and Henry Durrant (1-14) all kept the champions on top.
And they were untroubled in their reply as Bellerby reached 54 (six fours) before falling to Dan Llewellyn (1-11), while opening partner Nick Koomen finished on 48 not out (nine fours and a six) to ensure a nine wicket win.

Cresselly total too big for Seasiders
Saundersfoot (170) lost to Cresselly (212-7) by 42 runs
Cresselly got their first win of the season as new skipper Ryan Lewis shone with the ball at Saundersfoot after Dan Sutton and Phil Williams fired them to a big total before tea..
The Doves had posted 212-7 in 45 overs before Lewis took 5-25 to help his side to a 42 run win.
Opener Dan Sutton made 54 for Cresselly to help set the platform and he was backed by 66 from Phil Williams, while Simon ‘Snowy’ Cole (28), Neilson Cole (18), and Lewis (15) also edged them over the 200 mark.
For the home side, John (2-35) and Tom Mansbridge (1-19) bowled well and Sam Franklin (1-24) and Aryan Kawale (1-14) also helped give them a chance of a gettable total in good batting conditions.
It was John Mansbridge who led the chase with 63 (five fours and three sixes), but despite other good knocks from Franklin (36) and Danny Caine (29), the Seasiders were undone by Lewis as well as wickets from Tom Arthur (2-45), Sam Harts (2-49) and Dan James (1-23).

Peter Bradshaw struck a superb century for Tish
Bradshaw bags a ton as Tish chase down a huge Llangwm total
St Ishmaels (248-1) beat Llangwm (247-6) by 9 wickets
An unbeaten century from Peter Bradshaw completed a superb run-chase from Tish as they overhauled Llangwm’s big score of 247-6 with 9 wickets to spare.
Opener Will Beresford gave the away team a flying start with six boundaries in his 41 before giving a catch to Harry Nicholas off Brennan Devonald, but it was Joe Kiff who really pushed things on with a rapid 68 (five fours and four sixes), with James Venables (42), Matthew Kiff (31) and Noah Davies (30) helping Llangwm to a seemingly imposing total.
For Tish, Devonald ended up with 1-66, while Andrew Williams took 3-59 and Bradshaw himself had a brief cameo with 1-2.
And the latter then led the reply with 106 not out (ten fours and a six), after opening partner Nicholas had fallen to Callum Jenkins (1-47) for 43.
But Tish were in the run groove as Tish completed a great chase – and regular scorer Wendy Bradshaw, who doubles up as Peter’s proud mum, was almost too excited to give us the score afterwards!

Whitland hold out for a draw in high-scoring tussle
Whitland (207-5) drew with Haverfordwest (275-4)
There was yet another century for the prolific Simon Holliday as Haverfordwest got the better of their drawn match at Whitland.
After The Town had been asked to bat first, No 3 Holliday smashed 12 fours and six sixes in his knock of 125 not out after arriving late because of work commitments and then dominating matters.
That came after Mike Jones and Jake Merry had put on 76 for the opening wicket, Jones hitting four boundaries in his 34 and Merry seven fours in his 49 before both fell to Dylan Blain (2-67 in 10 overs).
Lee Summons made 18 before being clean bowled by Nathan Evans (1-60) and Adam James blasted 24 (20 in boundaries) before going in the same way to Geraint Jones (1-56), as the visitors posted a massive 275-4.
The Borderers never got close to getting within ‘losing draw’ range but Haverfordwest could only take five wickets.
Opener Jack Bowen cracked five fours in a quick-fire 26 as Dylan Blain and Paul Davies moved the score to 136-1 before the latter was caught by Ben Field off Lee Summons for 37 (four fours and a six).
Blain was then caught and bowled by Holliday for 74, having hit 10 fours and a maximum, and the all-rounder also had Evans stumped first ball by Jack Scriven.
Jones (23) was also run out after sharp work by away skipper Danny Potter but skipper Matthew Davies ensured there was no collapse with 36 not out as his side at least took maximum batting points.
Division Two Reports 4th May 2019
Phelps boys lead Hook to victory
Cresselly 2nds (188-9) lost to Hook (191-6) by 4 wickets
A knock of 50 not out from Jamie Phelps, ably assisted by son Aled, swung a tense contest the way of Hook as they won at Cresselly.
The home side had earlier posted 188-9, with opener Scott Arthur (23) giving them a flying start with five fours while Neale Williams made a steadier 25 (four fours).
Lyn Richards also added 30 (four fours) but it was No 9 Matthew Lewis who saved the innings, as he hammered his way to 71 not out in a great counter attack that included 11 boundaries, five of them maximums, to lead his team to 188-9.
For Hook, there was a great display from Aled Phelps (5-33), while Matthew Holder took 4-23.
The away reply got a bad start as Lyn Richards bowled Jake Wicks (3) but fellow opener Tom Blaxland and Aled Phelps steadied the ship before both were dismissed for 39 and 42 respectively.
Cresselly looked favourites when Hook later fell to 106-5 but it was then Jamie Phelps took command, and he was aided by Brennan Martin who cracked three fours and three sixes in his rapid 36.
Phelps was more measured with six fours in his half century and a big six from Bradley Flood (8 not out) helped Hook over the line.
For Cresselly, Richards finished with 1-45, Lewis 3-61, and Richard Harries 2-51.

Tight tussle on The Racecourse
Haverfordwest 2nds (137-8) drew with Carew 2nds (145-8)
It was tight at The Racecourse as Carew 2nds edged hosts Haverfordwest 2nds in a nervy draw.
The Rooks batted first and made 145-8, with opener Scott Richards making 32 (two fours) and he was followed by Robbie Hicks (27) and Dai Rees (43 – three fours and a six) in giving the visitors a decent start.
But it was James Marchant who boosted the home side with bowling figures of 6-58, and he was backed up by Lewis Rhead (1-16) and Kapele Samathapane (1-18) as Carew were restricted to 145-8.
The Town’s reply was led by Nigel Morgan who hit a steady 36, while Ross Dewstowe (26), Doug Johnson (21) and John Tooze (21) all helped edge them towards their target.
But Carew held their nerve as old timer Kerry Waters led the bowling with 3-25, while Barry Evans took 2-25 and Iori and Rob Hicks, plus Aaron Hindman all took a wicket each – leaving Haverfordwest a tantalising nine runs short of victory.
All over in quick time
Llechryd (68-1) beat Johnston (66 all out) by 9 wickets
It was all over quickly at Llechryd after they dismissed visitors Johnston for 66.
It is now more than a season since the visitors tasted a league win, and they never got going here despite 25 apiece from Chris Goodridge and Josh Hicks.
But the rest of the batsman, and extras, could only make 16 between them as wickets fell to John Curran (2-5), Rhys Beard (1-22), James Betterly (3-16) and his dad Peter (2-5).
Curran then cracked a rapid 42 before being bowled by Goodridge as Llechryd cruised to a 9 wicket win.

Last-ball victory for delight for his 73ted Narberth
Narberth (265-4) beat Kilgetty (264-9) by 6 wickets
The most dramatic game of the day came at Narberth as Lewis Hough took 2 runs off the final ball to complete a fantastic win for the home team.
Ross Hardy’s century had seemingly set Kilgetty up nicely as they posted a huge 264-9, but Hough was the hero as Narberth somehow chased it down.
Away skipper Hardy had earlier come in at No 3 and smashed 120, with eight sixes and 11 fours, and he’d found decent support from Toby Poole (59), Christian Phillips (24) and Ollie Gamble (22).
For Narberth, Ben Hughes had an eventful 11 overs with 6-57, while Ben Quartermaine took 2-30.
And the visitors then responded in kind as Hadleigh Luff made 35, but it was fellow opener Richie Adams who carried his bat for a sublime 104 not out (six fours and three sixes).
Loui Davies also hit 37 but it was Hough who joined Adams in getting his team over the line, cracking 55 (three fours and three sixes), including a ‘two’ with Adams off Toby Poole from the final ball of the match when Narberth needed a single to ensure at least a tie.
For Kilgetty, wickets went to Hardy (1-33), Jack Parkinson (1-56), Phillips (1-36) and Levi Hughes (1-26).

Pembroke beat ‘The Dock’ in easy derby win
Pembroke (196-3) beat Pembroke Dock (97 all out) by 99 runs
A stand of 97 between Jack Harries and Andrew Hay set up Pembroke for a convincing derby win over Pembroke Dock at Treleet.
After Paul White was run out for 4, fellow opener Andrew Hay batted sensibly for his 73, with six boundaries, and shared a partnership of 63 with Harries before being bowled by Billy Wood (1-40).
Harries hit seven fours in his 40 before also being skittled, this time by Nick Daley (1-43), but it was he and Phil Hay who really pushed the innings on with the latter hitting five fours and a six to finish unbeaten on 60.
The Dock’s reply never got going after Jonathan Rogers trapped Luke Murray (7) lbw early on, and only Daley (17), Scott Griffiths (10), and Peter Kingdom (22) made double figures.
For Pembroke, Rogers finished with 3-15 alongside ‘Chalky’ White (3-14), Rob Smythe (2-32), and Sam Davies (2-22).
