Delighted Josh is awarded his karate 2nd Dan

Josh WhatlingThe hard work is paying off for Milford Haven Karate Club member Josh Whatling after he was awarded his 2nd Dan.

Whatling, 21, came through a stern three hour examination in front of a panel from the Nakmas Karate Association, where he had to show expert techniques, self defence, pairing work and fitness competition sparring.

Josh has trained with the Milford club since he was six-years-old, and has since excelled, winning numerous karate competitions.  He has Welsh titles to his name, and has also won medals for his country at British Championship level. Whatling also joined other club members in representing Karate Wales at the World Championships in Dundee in 2023.

Club chief instructor Kevin John said: “Josh is a model student and is well respected within the karate fraternity all around the UK. The students within the club think the world of him, he is such an asset to the club and a role model to the younger members who look up to him.

“The next goal for Josh is to carry on competing domestically and internationally, with the aim to represent Wales at future World and European Championships.”
