After a highly competitive series of rugby matches the Pembrokeshire Youth season ended on a very high note for Crymych as they fended off the strong challenge of their counterparts from Aberystwyth and travelled to Whitland for their final game safe in the knowledge that a win would see them secure the silverware.

And Barry Davies’s side finished on a very high note as they ran in nine tries to the Young Borderers’ two and leading the way with a hat-trick of tries was outside half Owain Davies, who controlled play throughout and also added six conversions for a personal haul of 27 points.

Skipper Iestyn Wood rounded off a cracking season of leading by example as he also powered over for two tries from No 8 and others came at regular intervals from centre Gruff Edwards, winger Dyfrig Dellar, flanker Jac Delaney and prop Ptolemy Alleyne as Aneirin Wood, Bryn Thomas and Dan Page also won plenty of ball alongside their forward colleagues.

Owain Davies scores one of his three triesFor Whitland there was no shortage of effort and commitment from outstanding No 8 Lewis Jones and hooker Dan Howells, who crossed for their tries, plus the likes of Ieuan Hill, Lennon Reynolds , Joshua Clarke and Tom Monk, to name but a few in a whole-squad effort that reflected great credit on players and coaches alike.

But it was Crymych Youth who collected the silverware and in true fashion celebrated success in typical style to round off a cracking campaign for the youth section of the club alongside their first team.
