Busy time for talented young golfer

Luke Harries, a member of Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Golf Clubs, who has recently turned 16, has certainly had a summer to remember.

Busy time for talented young golfer

Several weeks ago Luke came runner up for the second year in succession at The Welsh Boys Championships at Abergele Golf Club, having fought through several days of tough elimination competition.  In the final Luke lost to 18 year old Ben Chamberlain, from Padstow and Buckley Golf Club, taking the game all the way to the nail-biting 20th hole.

Luke, already capped for Wales at U15 and U16 level, then had a deserved call up to represent Wales at U18 level at The Boys Home Internationals at Conwy Golf Club last week.

Wonderful experience

This was a wonderful experience from which Luke has taken a great deal, seeing what it is like stepping up to the next level, playing against boys like Marco Penge, who are looking to turn professional within the next 12 months.

Luke's itinerary for the rest of August remains pretty packed too.  Later this week Luke travels with Tenby Golf Club to play in the Welsh Team 'Scratch' Championships at The Glamorganshire Golf Club, followed several days later by a lengthy trip up to Sherwood Forest Golf Club to play in the Welsh Schools v English Schools Championships.

It's then back to Radyr Golf Club at the end of the month where Wales U16s again take on the English.
