Bluebirds pick up a welcome point at home against The Silkmen
JD Welsh Premier:
Haverfordwest County 1 – Flint Town United 1
Haverfordwest County picked up a draw against Flint Town United at the Bridge Meadow Stadium.
Tony Pennock’s team have lost three league and one cup game on the bounce, so this point was welcome, but in the camp, they must have felt it should have been three, with the chances they created.
Every game at his level is tough and this game proved no different, skipper Dylan Rees gave his side the lead, but The Silkmen levelled through Bobby Beaumont-Broadhead just before half time, with neither team able to find the back of the net in the second period.
The visitors had first sight at goal at the start of the clash when Jayden Major curled an effort wide from outside the 18-yard area.
Captain Rees scores the opener
At the other end Jordan Davies also struck a low shot wide, the hosts opened the scoring in the 23
rd minute; a free kick in the box wasn’t dealt with by The Silkmen defenders and Rees reacted quickest to stick his shot into the back of the net.
Minutes later The Bluebirds were unlucky not to add to their telly as Davies’ cross was met by a firm close range Ben Fawcett header which whistled past the post.
Matters levelled
On the stoke of half time the visitors equalised as Beaumont-Broadhead made no mistake from inside the box.
Shortly after the interval Allen pulled off a good save to deny Jamie Veale who was nicely set up by Rhys Abbruzzese. The left back then fired a long shot from distance which flew wide of Allen’s post.
Jack Wilson got into an outstanding position in the box, and he squared the ball which deflected off a Flint defender for a corner.
On 75 minutes there was a double substitution for the hosts as Corey Shephard made a welcome return to the team after a lengthy spell out with a knee injury; he replaced 16-year-old Harri John also Ryan George came on for Wilson.
But there was no further drama as the game petered out and both sides settled for a point apiece.
