Matthew Davies
21 - Student at Cardiff Met
Goal Keeper
Travels home from Cardiff to play in goal but can also play outfield as an added bonus – and a Clarbie player since his under 10 days. Strong in the air and a very good shot stopper who links well with his back four in commanding his penalty area.
Reinhallt George
21 - Electrician
Right Back
He hails from Maenclochog and has played for Clarbie for over a decade, including throughout his junior days. He is strong in the tackle and a very good reader of the game with his ability to cut out danger at an early stage – and enjoys pushing forward when the chance arises.
Dan Rees
35 - Process Operator
Central Defender
Dan typifies what is good about the club he has served well for 25 years – resisting the temptation to play elsewhere when things weren’t going as well as now. A no-nonsense central defender, he is very strong in the tackle and commands the air – and a real threat as he pushes forward at attacking set-pieces.
Tom Glover
25 - Farrier
Central Defender
Tom is a versatile player who has been at Clarbie for four seasons and has formed a powerful central defence with Dan Rees as they complement each other. He is a good reader of the game who is adept at plugging gaps, as well as being a strong tackler and a committed player in the air.
Llewellyn George
26 - Works on family farm
Left Back
The older brother of Reinallt he completes the family full back partnership and another player who has only played for his one club after coming through the junior ranks. He is very quick and has a very good left foot which ensures the ball is played well out of defence after making his characteristically strong tackles.
Mike Turpin
26 - Estate Agent
Central Midfielder
Undoubtedly the team’s playmaker who loves to sit in midfield and set his front runners into action with his nifty left foot delivery of telling passes. Specialises at corners and free kicks and when he plays well Clarbeston Road usually look in top form so he will be a key player on the big day.
Raff Barnett
38 - Builder
Central Midfielder
The ‘old timer’ of the team who has appeared in Senior Cups with Narberth – and now a vital midfield cog as he uses his vast experience to good effect as an organiser and tidier-up of loose play. Raff clearly still enjoys his involvement and is a good ball winner who also uses his height to good effect at set pieces – and a real danger man in the final.
Josh Wood
16 - Student
Right Wing
The undoubted ‘baby’ of the team who has made a superb transition from junior football at the club and settled in well to the hurly-burly of senior football as uses his pace and strength to good effect. Will remember his first goal for Clarbie’s first team – it was the winner against Goodwick United in the semi-final!
Jason Griffiths
29 - Lab Technician
Striker
Jason joined Clarbie from West Dragons several years ago and now a key attacker with his unerring nose for goals as a constant threat in the opposition penalty area. Defences can never relax if he is about and as well as scoring in the semi-final he is well on the way to another 40-goal haul by the end of the season.
Richard Bevan
27 - Teaching Assistant
Striker
Undoubtedly the ‘quiet man’ of Clarbeston Road but the perfect foil up front with his unselfish running to draw defenders out of position and create space for others. He is good in the air and strong with both feet – and proof of his effectiveness can be gauged from the fact that he has already scored 34 goals at the time of writing!
Matthew Griffiths
28 - Process Operator
Utility Player
‘Maestro’ hails from Slebech and is the undoubted joker of the pack who can play in almost any position and sure to play an important part role in the final as a result. He has been with the club right throughout the junior ranks and shows 100% commitment on the field, with skill aplenty allied to real strength in the tackle and good distribution skills.
Gregg Brown
24 - Match Analyst, WRU
Midfield
Gregg is the son of club chairman Steve Brown and another who came through the junior ranks, where he was part of a superb team which won the treble of junior league, cup and West Wales Cup. He is an excellent reader of the game who links strength aplenty with high skill levels – and someone who is missed when his work in rugby takes him away!
Tom Reubens
Attacker
Tom joined Clarbie last season and featured strongly in last season’s 2nd division cup winning season. Tom is strong on the ball and has tremendous pace which gives the team another option going forward. He can also fill in anywhere required. He has missed a few games of late due to an operation."
Jacque Montague
16 - Student
Midfield
Another talented youngster who has successfully made the transition this year to force his way into first-team contention. Jack can play anywhere, although he probably prefers midfield, where he reads play so well – and certainly a player to watch for the future as he gains in experience.
Matthew Ellis
32 - IT Technician
Player Manager
Matthew is in his third season with the club and took over the managerial reins this year whilst still being an important midfield player still in his own right. Previously played in a Senior Cup Final with Haverfordwest County and still very skilful and organised on the pitch, as he is in his off-field duties – and rightly held in high regard by all at Clarbeston Road.
Jason Wood
47 - Assistant Manager
NHS Estate Manager
Jason is the proud dad of young Josh and after giving great service at Lawrenny joined Clarbie a decade ago – and looked after the junior team from under 8 to under 16 before they finished last campaign. As well as helping his manager on match days he also fulfils another vital role as manager of the seconds as a great club man who gives 100% to the cause!
